If the rumors are to be believed, Apple is working on a successor to the iPhone SE. Some are calling it the iPhone SE 2, but over in Korea, national carrier KT is apparently dubbing it the iPhone 9 and has seemingly confirmed that the handset could be close to being launched, despite there not being any official word from Apple.

The photo above was shared by Chinese website cnBeta who showed a KT storefront displaying promotional images for both the Samsung Galaxy S20 and iPhone 9. Had this been any other third-party retailer, it would be easy to assume that they were simply jumping onto the hype train and getting ahead of themselves.

However, since this is KT, one of South Korea’s telcos, we imagine that they probably know something that we don’t. It is possible that this is a rogue store that might have gotten a bit too excited and are making assumptions, but like we said, since this is a promotion run by a KT retail store, it does lend a bit more credence.

That being said, it does seem to be slightly consistent with the rumors because last we heard, Apple was aiming for an early 2020 launch for the iPhone SE 2/iPhone 9. Apple tends to host events early in the year so it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that the upcoming iPhone could be part of that. Take it with a grain of salt, but hopefully we’ll have more details soon.
