Amazon today announced a major change in its cloud storage offering. Amazon Cloud Drive no longer has storage limits. The company will now provide subscribers with unlimited storage. It has also introduced a new tier for people who just want cloud storage to store their photos. The new tier will let them store “Unlimited Photos” in Amazon’s cloud. All customers will be given a free 3-month trial to try either plan before they decide which one to pay for.

The Unlimited Photos plan costs $11.99 per year. Subscribers will be able to store an unlimited amount of photos in Cloud Drive. Amazon is also going to throw in an additional 5GB of storage for other files and videos.

The Unlimited Everything Plan costs $59.99 per year and provides limitless storage for photos, videos, files, documents, music, movies and more in Cloud Drive.

Amazon is offering great value for money here. For example people who subscribe to Dropbox Pro pay $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year for 1TB of storage. They require a business account if they want unlimited storage. Google Drive can provide 30TB of storage for $299.990 per month. The only free option is from Microsoft but then that requires an Office 365 subscription.

The new plans go in effect starting today. Amazon Prime members and owners of Fire devices who already have unlimited photo storage can sign up for the Unlimited Everything plan to store other files and videos as well.
