YouTube has recently introduced a new Video autoplay feature just like the one you can see on Hulu. When a Video is finished, the next recommended video is played automatically after a short delay. This helps in keeping the viewers glued to their seats and overall increase total number of views.

Although, this might be an interesting feature (especially, for YouTube), but it can be a bit annoying for some people. There are many people who just take a tiny break out of a stressful work to refresh their mind over few YouTube Videos, but they may end up streaming videos for hours due to the interest. Furthermore, if videos are left unattended, they will keep playing and eat Internet data for no reason (if you don’t have an unlimited data plan).

If you are being negatively affected by this new YouTube feature, then you should know that you can easily disable or enable this feature any time you want.

Disable the Feature at the end of the Video

If you actually like this feature in some situations, then you don’t actually have to disable the feature completely. You can just cancel the feature for any specific video when it ends, and the feature will be disabled until you see another video.

When your Video will finish, you will see a new “Play” button in the middle with a cancel button under it and a timer circling clockwise around it. The timer is of 10 seconds and you will have act in these 10 seconds, otherwise, the next recommended Video will start playing.

To cancel the Autoplay, click on the “Cancel” button under the “Play” icon. Make sure you click on “Cancel” button and not the “Play” button (located very close) or the next video will start immediately.

This will stop the Autoplay and you will see all the recommended videos instead, which you can click to play whenever you like.

The Autoplay will be turned off only for this time, if you will play another video the Autoplay feature will be enabled in it.

Disable the Feature Permanently

Now, if you don’t like the feature at all and just want to disable it for all the videos, then you can easily do so right from the recommended videos panel.

Just play a video (not in Fullscreen mode) and you will see all the recommended videos on the right side of the window.

There, at the top of the recommended videos, you will see a toggle button with tiny “Autoplay” written in gray next to it (YouTube really doesn’t want you to turn it off).

Now, whenever you will play a video, at the end, you will see all the recommended videos which you can play manually.

In any case, you want the feature back, just repeat the above process and click on the “Autoplay” toggle button to enable the feature again (the button will turn blue from gray).
