AMD, also known as Advanced Micro Devices, is a semiconductor company based in Sunnyvale, California. The company was founded on May 1, 1969 by a group of ex-Fairchild Semiconductor executives. AMD's products include microprocessors, motherboard chipsets, embedded processors, and graphics processors for servers, workstations and personal computers. The company also offers embedded systems applications. Currently, AMD is the second-largest supplier of x86 architecture-based microprocessors and one of the largest GPU suppliers in the world.
