12/20/2011, It seems that the unwarranted “Cold War” between iOS 3.1.3 powered devices and the App Store is now over – as Apple has ensured that things have gone back to normal, and all the planets are aligned together. Yes sir, it took several days of frustration of being unable to download or purchase apps directly on the devices after the recent App Store update was rolled out. So far, so […]
12/20/2011, If you happen to own an iPhone or iPod touch that is still running on iOS 3.1.3, you would have realized by now that since the 16th of this month, you would have been unable to download iOS applications directly from the App Store. There is a workaround though, which is to purchase and download applications through the iTunes route, synchronizing them after that to the iPhone or iPod touch. […]
11/09/2011, Apple is famous for their closed ecosystem, and this is a double edged sword really. As with just about anything in life, there is always a good and bad side to it, and the presence of iOS devices as well as Android-powered tablets and phones prove that either way, there is a group of people who support the idea. Meaning, there is no right or wrong answer here, and in […]
10/17/2011, It seems that Google Voice and iOS 5 do not play nice with each other, after numerous customers who made the jump to iOS 5 (I wonder how many of the 20 million were affected)made complaints about Google Voice crashing. According to one who posted his grievances on an online forum, “After updating to iOS 5, the Google Voice app began to crash continuously. It received push notifications perfectly, but […]
09/16/2011, It’s hard to deny that the (Apple) App Store is not a huge success, and it looks like Microsoft is taking a page from Apple’s book, as it announced at the BUILD conference this week that Windows 8 will have an app store that users will have to use in order to purchase/download content for the tablet. Fortunately it’s only going to be for the Metro UI version of Windows […]
09/13/2011, Microsoft knows that it does not hurt to follow a business model of another company if it proved to be successful, and certainly no one would want to dispute the effectiveness of the App Store or iTunes from Apple. Well, the software giant has decided to take a page out of Apple’s book by announcing that there will be a Windows 8 app store, allowing application developers to write programs […]
09/07/2011, If you thought that one app store was more than enough for Android users to use, it looks like there’s going to be one more to add to the list – well if you’re living in China. It has been reported that there at least eight Android app stores over in that side of the world, and that’s not even including the upcoming Baidu Yi, which will have its own […]
08/18/2011, A few months back there were rumors circulating Windows 8, and one of them was that the upcoming OS by Microsoft would be featuring an app store. Given the tablet-esque nature of the platform, it’s really not surprising that there might be an app store for it, not to mention Microsoft’s competitor, Apple, recently introduced the Mac App Store for its laptops and computers.
08/01/2011, It seems that Apple’s legal eagles have made a swoop of Amazon’s activities in Germany – as the trademark battle concerning the use of the “App Store” phrase has swept into the heart of Europe, and the fruity company has picked up a semblance of victory in Germany as Amazon will no longer accept new application submissions in that part of the world simply because there are repercussions from Apple […]
07/18/2011, Not too long ago, Apple was under fire from the Taiwanese government for not having a 7-day return policy for its App Store in compliance with the country’s Consumer Protection Act. It was reported that Apple decided to bend over and change its rules for the country. Well now it looks like the new App Store policy has officially been changed.
07/15/2011, It looks like all of our pondering and mulling have proved to be correct, so we need not purchase a new crystal ball just yet. We are talking about Apple’s possible revision of overseas App Store pricing – which has been done already, since the American dollar isn’t what it used to be. The App Store pricing has been changed to reflect this new reality, translating to more affordable albums […]
07/11/2011, Heavy shoppers on the Apple App Store should start watching their spending habits – at least according to predictions by analysts, Gene Munster and Piper Jaffray. They predicted that the average price of an app is going to rise about 14% this year – due to the fact that people are more willing to spend money on apps now, as opposed to 2010 when the average prices of paid apps […]
07/07/2011, While Apple has been pretty much successful in everything it has done so far, it looks like even the Cupertino giant can’t have everything go its way. The company was recently denied its injunction filing against Amazon – to stop the latter company from calling its app store the “Appstore”. Apple’s reasoning for the complaint was due to the fact that they didn’t want consumers getting confused about the App […]
06/27/2011, After being threatened with a fine by the Taiwanese government for not having a 7-day return policy, it looks like Apple has given in to the authorities. It has been reported that the Apple App Store for Taiwan has changed its return policy from not having one to 7 days. Apparently the lack of a return policy goes against the country’s Consumer Protection Act. The government is trying to prevent […]
