09/17/2010, There’s no doubt that Apple’s iPad is a successful device, but many folks out there often wonder if this success came at the expense of netbooks and notebook computers. Now Best Buy’s CEO has dropped a rather shocking statistic that might shed some light on the situation. According to him, the iPad has cannibalized sales of notebook computers by as much as 50 percent! If such figures are consistent across […]
09/09/2010, Amazon has decided to take a different route with its Kindle e-reader by allowing Best Buy to carry said device from this fall onwards, which would make Best Buy follow the footsteps of Target and Staples. One can speculate that this move aims to increase the e-reader’s offline presence in view of the iPad’s phenomenal performance to date (albeit the iPad isn’t even a dedicated e-reader to start with in […]
09/07/2010, Remember the Samsung Gem that was listed in the Best Buy buyers guide a few days back? It was originally listed as “coming soon”, giving us some hope that we’d be able to check out the phone soon. Now Best Buy has issued a little statement, claiming that it made a mistake and that there is no official launch date for the Samsung Gem just yet. Nothing else about the […]
09/02/2010, Whispers of the Samsung Gem have been going around before this, and now a picture of Best Buy’s September buyer’s guide more or less confirms the existence of the device. Verizon’s low-end Android phone will apparently launch with Android 2.2, TouchWiz 3.0 interface, 3.2-megapixel camera, microSD card support, GPS, Wi-Fi and the Swype input method. Pricing wasn’t mentioned, but hopefully it won’t break the bank.
08/27/2010, Best Buy has announced that they will be bringing the Verizon Samsung Fascinate to the consumer market this Sunday, August 29th – albeit in a pre-order format. Of course, Best Buy Reward Zone members can already place their reservation from today onwards, going to show that membership has its priviledges. We don’t think the Fascinate will sell out quickly though, since there isn’t a frenzied crowd buzzing about the smartphone […]
08/10/2010, Word is going around that the Nikon D3100 is already listed in Best Buy’s inventory system, with the label reading “Nikon D3100 DSLR w/ 18-55mm v”. According to the leak, the device will be available on September 18th, though there wasn’t any additional information regarding other cameras such as the replacement for the D90. The D3100 is expected to be announced in a week or so, and we’ll be keeping […]
08/08/2010, The tablet segment has certainly gotten a whole lot more interesting ever since Apple released their iPad, and it seems that Best Buy wants a piece of this seemingly lucrative market segment by developing a tablet computer of its own. Yes, this massive electronics chain will be working on a tablet device, with a prototype already being available – at least that’s what Robert Stephens, chief technology officer and founder […]
08/01/2010, Looking forward to both Final Fantasy XIII and Splinter Cell: Conviction? Good news for you then, as Best Buy will be offering a sweet deal on both Xbox 360 bundles from today onwards, where they will retail for $299.99 each. This offer will last until they run out of stock. Just to get a better idea on what three Benjamins will net you, you will be able to enjoy the […]
07/06/2010, The earlier leak about Best Buy offering its own wireless service seems to be correct, as the company accidentally put up a page detailing its Best Buy Connect service, before it was taken down. If you’re interested in getting a plan, you’ll be able to choose from a two-year, one-year, and also contract-free packages for the same price, though the subsidy you receive will be different, of course. If you […]
07/06/2010, Best Buy was not supposed to release the white version of the EVO 4G from HTC today, but it seems that these smartphones have already landed in select Best Buy stores by now. July 11th is the official date where you can get your hands on one of these puppies, so might as well get ready to suit up and bring a nice camera along to make sure you capture […]
07/06/2010, Folks who haven’t placed a pre-order for the highly anticipated Motorola Droid X and are still looking to pick one up should be quite happy to hear that Best Buy has confirmed that it has resumed taking pre-orders for the phone. The retailer had previously stopped accepting orders for the Droid X, which is slated to arrive on July 15th, due to low supplies, which does seem to be increasingly […]
07/06/2010, If you’ve checked out AT&T’s latest buyer’s guide, you might want to take a closer look at the HTC Aria, as some eagle-eyed readers have noticed that the phone seems to sport a 4G connection icon at the top, despite the phone not supporting 4G, nor AT&T offering a 4G service. Sure, it’s a small mistake, but it’s still funny to see it splashed across the front page. Unless, of […]
06/21/2010, Leaks are inevitable in the consumer electronics industry these days, and it seems that companies have staff who are much looser with their lips compared to days of old. The latest leak to make headlines would be the whole Best Buy launch plan for the iPhone 4 – where the two dozen page document outlines various topics such as Big Don’ts, Employee Purchases, SKUs and Pricing, Data Plan Requirements, iPhone […]
06/15/2010, Did Sony’s demo of the PlayStation Move seal the deal for you? If you think that the Move trounces Microsoft’s Kinect, you can already place your pre-orders for the $99 Move bundle at Best Buy and GameStop. Do you think a hundred bucks is worth the price for a new gaming experience on your PlayStation 3?
