07/29/2011, When we reviewed the Blackberry Playbook, one of the things that we found lacking was native apps such as mail, calendar and BBM. It also seemed to lack the ability to make calls, a feature which the Samsung Galaxy Tab, an Android tablet of somewhat similar size, had. The good news is that there is now an app available for the Playbook that will allow you to make and receive […]
07/21/2011, It has been reported by Strategy Analytics that in Q2 2011, Microsoft has seen more tablets shipped with its operating systems than RIM did with its own tablet. Now this wouldn’t have been surprising if it was comparing Apple’s iPad against the BlackBerry PlayBook but in this case we’re talking about tablets running Microsoft’s operating system: Windows 7, which wasn’t even designed for tablets in the first place.
07/19/2011, Research In Motion (RIM) recently rolled out the BlackBerry Tablet OS update – specifically meant for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Well, just as with any other decent update that rolls out, you can bet your bottom dollar that new features will be introduced, alongside added stability to the platform. What has been confirmed would be ZIP file support, in addition to new multimedia options.
07/07/2011, Bear in mind that good functional hardware is handicapped without proper software, and unfortunately, the BlackBerry PlayBook falls under this category. For those of you who decided to be an early adopter and are disappointed with your purchase, perhaps you might want to consider fitting it out with the $69.99 Ballistic Tough Jacket Case? Why so, you ask? Surely after making such a decision, you can at least express your […]
06/16/2011, Those living in the UK and who are on the O2 network will be disappointed to know that the carrier will not be bringing in the Blackberry Playbook and that they ”will not be selling the device.” To quote their reasoning behind this move, ”unfortunately there are some issues with the end to end customer experience.” There was no specific reasoning behind this other than what was said above but we’re guessing […]
06/03/2011, The BlackBerry PlayBook has already been around for some time already, but while it boasts of solid hardware, the same cannot be said where software is concerned. After all, this just goes to reinforce the point that we have been sharing all this while – there is value in the software more than the hardware, which explains why seemingly inferior devices would do better in the market if they have […]
05/30/2011, We do know that there will be a WiMAX-enabled BlackBerry PlayBook rolling out sometime down the road, but there is no word on an exact date just yet. However, some enterprising sleuths who decided to rely on the power of Google managed to uncover a secret – the shipping date of such a PlayBook might be closer than you think. This is made possible thanks to a Google search that […]
05/17/2011, OtterBox, the company that’s famous for its sturdy, rugged and fashionable smartphone/tablet cases has just announced the launch of two new tablet cases in the Defender Series. Protecting your favorite tablets, the OtterBox Defender Series cases are lightweight and keep them safe from harm. While it may not stop your iPad 2 or PlayBook from being crushed by a bowling ball, it’s no softie either. The Defender Series for the […]
05/15/2011, The bad news surrounding the BlackBerry PlayBook by Research In Motion (RIM) does seem to pile up by the day – we have unofficial word via a Staples memo RIM will be recalling more than 900 BlackBerry PlayBook tablets, and since the memo failed to divulge the reason behind the recall, what better way than to hear from the horse’s mouth? Contacting RIM, here is what they had to say […]
05/06/2011, You know what’s strange? While the world is all crazy about tablets at the moment, don’t you think it is rather weird for a keyboard accessory to accompany whatever tablet that is in the market? Sure, if you would like to do plenty of typing and yet do not want to work those shoulder muscles unnecessarily, then why not carry around a netbook or a MacBook Air instead? The tablet […]
05/04/2011, The BlackBerry PlayBook from Sprint does seem to be shaping up to be a cursed device of sorts, as an internal document that was procured by BriefMobile do point towards the scrapping of its purported May 8th launch date, with dealers been told to hold off from selling the beleaguered tablet device until further notification (and with that, a subsequent date, of course). Too bad said date was not mentioned […]
05/02/2011, [Blackberry World] RIM has just announced that a new BlackBerry Video Chat app will be making its way over to the BlackBerry PlayBook. The app will finally allow PlayBook users to make video calls to other PlayBook users with RIM’s own app. As mentioned in our PlayBook review, the tablet didn’t come with an app out of the box, so it’s good to know that RIM is working hard to […]
04/28/2011, So far, reviews of the BlackBerry PlayBook have been far from flattering to the average user – the hardware is polished and refined, but the other equally important component which is the software, still has a long, long way to go before people would actually want to queue up for such a tablet. Still, Research In Motion (RIM) is not going to let all the negative early reviews dampen their […]
04/26/2011, MacMall might have commited one of the more glaring mistakes in recent memory using the power of Photoshop (although we are quite sure that they did not enlist the help of Baojun Yuan in this instance) to ensure that Google’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system will be running on the upcoming, well-panned BlackBerry PlayBook.
