Dell Adamo XPS removed from system
Posted on March 8, 2010 7:51 AM

Strange as it might sound, Dell's Adamo XPS is no longer available in the company's system for those living Stateside, although it is still available in the UK via Dell's exclusive retail deal with John Lewis, although there were just seven units left in stock about an hour back. This is rather strange considering the system shipped just in December. We are curious to know what Dell has up their sleeves though.
Update 3/8 3pm PT: Dell has informed us that you might still find the Adamo XPS at BestBuy.com and in select BestBuy stores. The Adamo XPS is seen by Dell as a "limited edition", and they told us that future Adamo products would be introduced in the future.

Tuesday morning, I had the opportunity to get my hands on the new classmate, the computer for kids, designed by Intel. To increase the demand for computing devices more rapidly, nothing is better than acquiring new customers right after they left their cradles.

Flexible OLED Rolltop computer
Posted on March 4, 2010 10:50 PM
Check out this flexible OLED Rolltop computer that can be wrapped around a dock in a similar manner to that of a sushi roll, although we do wonder just what kind of battery is able to live up to such rigorous conditions during use. Definitely something we would want to lug around at conferences and on the showfloor to ease our burden of carrying around too much equipment, but will technology be able to catch up with this vision in the near future?

Posted on March 1, 2010 6:10 AM
Guger Technologies from Austria is currently exhibiting a brain computer interface at CeBIT 2010, where you are able to control an avatar using nothing but pure brainpower - that's right, it could very well be the beginning of James Cameron's Avatar in real life! This brain computer interface (BCI) will require you to wear a pretty funny looking BCI cap requires you to wear a funny looking BCI cap which is capable of measuring electrophysiological signals like the Electroencephalogram (EEG) or Electrocorticogram (ECoG). We do wonder just how different is this from the Emotiv EPOC?

Open-PC has no commercial software
Posted on February 3, 2010 7:53 AM

Open-PC is a nettop that ought to find a home on most desks considering its relatively small footprint which measures 345mm x 425mm x 100mm. Another outstanding point would be it running on completely non-commercial software, since you get a KDE core alongside a bunch of free software that was designed by the community. Even the specifications and price are determined by a set of surveys, where it will be released at the end of the month. It retails for €359 a pop, featuring an Intel Atom N330 processor, 3GB RAM and a 160GB hard drive.
MiniPC ED510 unveiled
Posted on January 29, 2010 7:26 AM

The Pine Trail processor (from the Intel Atom line) is now making its way to nettops, with the MiniPC ED510 being the latest to sport this processor. Power usage stands at 20W when idle and 31W at maximum, which is pretty decent in keeping your monthly power bill low, while the ability to run it without a fan ought to keep things silent when you work late into the night - best to pair this up with a silent keyboard. One main gripe about the MiniPC ED510 would be the lack of HDMI or DVI output, but we can't really complain about the sub-$200 price point. More details on specifications right after the jump.

HP shows video of its slate
Posted on January 26, 2010 3:50 AM
HP did parade a slate device at CES 2010, and have added more flesh to it by unveiling a new video of it. Apparently, it will run on Windows 7 and come with a browser and a NYT application, although we hope to see a more polished final product. HP promises to roll out the device sometime this year, and we guess its pricing will have a lot to do with what Apple announces this coming Wednesday. Will Microsoft lose this battle to the fruity company as well after losing out on the Zune?

The former will come with 3GB RAM and a 320GB hard drive, while the latter has a lesser 2GB RAM and 250GB hard drive to get you started. Right out of the box, you will find that both models feature an 18.4" widescreen LCD display at 1,680 x 945 resolution running on Windows 7 Home Premium and AMD's Athlon X2 3250e 1.5GHz dual-core processor. Seems like pretty beefy machines to us, let us hope that the price is right as well.
