Next Version Of Android Codenamed Froyo

It seems that after “Cupcake”, “Donut” and “Éclair”, the next version of Google’s Android OS will be codenamed “Froyo” (short for frozen yogurt), continuing the company’s trend of using tasty stuff for Android codenames. This revelation came from Eric Tseng, Android senior product manager, during a recent interview. There isn’t any additional information on this just yet, especially what new features will be included in the update, but stay tuned, and we’ll update you as soon as such information is dug up.

T-Mobile Pushes Android 1.5 Cupcake Update To G1 Users

G1 users in the US will be pleased to know that T-Mobile is pushing the Android 1.5 Cupcake update over-the-air from today onwards. For those who have already received this, good for you - how do you find it so far? Do leave a comment and let us know how it is going for you after the upgrade. Hopefully every G1 user in that part of the world will be rocking to Cupcake soonest possible in order to take full advantage of the improvements.


Dell Displays Cupcake-powered Mini 10v

Dell might not offer the option of running the upcoming Cupcake version of Android on the Mini 10v netbook, but that doesn't mean something like that is not possible, as the video you see above shows the Mini 10v defying convention by ditching Windows and settling for the Linux-based operating system instead. Unfortunately for fanboys, the Texas-based computer manufacturer has no product plans for such a model, although they did comment that the Mini 10v makes for a "small and snappy little operating environment".

DoCoMo HT-03A Android Phone

Japan has received their first Android-powered phone from DoCoMo known as the HT-03A, and it will run on the Android 1.5 Cupcake. Just in case you wonder why the HT-03A looks so familiar, that is because this is none other than the HTC Magic. Word on the street also has it that DoCoMo has a pleasant surprise for smartphone lovers in the coming fortnight, although they have kept mum in order to build up the anticipation and tension.
