12/28/2009, LG Display just penned some deals that will enable it to produce e-paper screens. The Korean company has come to an agreement with E Ink as well as Hydis Technology to develop e-paper modules in addition to cross-purchase technology between the two companies. LG will be throwing around $30.5 million into the latter with the latest move, but remained coy as to whether they will also hop on the e-book […]
10/29/2009, Samsung is currently showing off its 10.1″ color electronic paper (e-paper) device at FPD International 2009 in Japan, and hopes to roll out this e-paper in volume from one to two years’ time. It manages to retain its slim profile thanks to integrated gate ICs on the glass TFT substrate, which in turn is combined with E Ink Corp’s e-paper and a color filter. Measuring a mere 0.7mm thin, you […]

Obviously, the price of the boats justify lofty means to promote them, so that’s OK, but still, it is amusing to see where these displays end up. We have not checked the Lamborghini brochures for a couple of month, but they might be next.
05/10/2009, Philips has released yet another version of their color e-paper which could potentially boot LCD displays out of the door. The current concept relies on new technology that preserves screen resolution as it turns the traditional pixel model on its head, literally. Instead of current e-ink technology as found in the Amazon Kindle and Sony Reader that rely on electrophoresis, Philips’ “in-plane electrophoretics” allow multi-color bits to move about horizontally […]
