07/28/2011, Update: The police might have been tricked into apprehending the wrong person – it seems that website LulzSecurityExposed claims Topiary is a 23-year-old Swede. The UK authorities did not comment on the situation as to whether they bagged the right person or not, so we look forward to an update as well. A 19-year old man was picked up by the long arm of the law in the UK, where […]
07/27/2011, As if the heat from the authorities wasn’t already enough, it looks like Anonymous and LulzSec have another adversary to deal with. A hacker who calls himself Jester has claimed responsibility for taking down the websites of two of the most prolific hacker groups in recent history. At this time of writing, both lulzsecurity.com and anonyops.com are inaccessible, though there’s no word on why the sites are offline besides the […]
07/21/2011, Remember a couple of days ago we reported that Anonymous decided to start their own social network, AnonPlus, after they were rather unceremoniously given the boot from Google+? Well as it turns out, just because they’re hackers and know how to exploit security flaws in systems does not mean that they’re impervious themselves. It seems that only just recently did they find their AnonPlus website hacked and defaced.
07/18/2011, What do you do when you get banned or kicked out from Google+? You create your own social networking website of course! At least that’s what the hacker group, Anonymous, has decided to do when they were booted from Google+ for violating some of the rules for Google’s new social networking website. The group had apparently violated community standards which resulted not only in Google removing the group’s Google+ account, […]
07/11/2011, While LulzSec has disappeared and sailed off into the sea, other hacking groups have picked up where they left off, wreaking havoc on the world. Another infamous hacking collective known as Anonymous, recently made an attack on the intelligence community of the world and has posted some of the stolen material it gained from its endeavors. Just in case you didn’t know, the intelligence community consists of government agencies like […]
07/05/2011, All of a sudden, hacking has received plenty of news coverage, (no) thanks to Sony’s security breach followed by plenty of other instances in recent months. Well, the entire hacking keyword isn’t going to fade into the limelight anytime soon, what with hackers having seized control of a PayPal Twitter feed earlier today, sending out messages which criticized the payment processor. This is the second attack of its type in […]
06/30/2011, Terror group al-Qaida has been punk’d according to a terrorism expert, claiming that they no longer have a trusted operational channel on the Internet to distribute their media and propaganda. According to Evan Kohlmann of Flashpoint Partners, “I really can’t say for certain how or why this happened, other than that it involved apparently separate attacks on both the domain name and data server used by al-Qaida’s trusted forum, Al-Shamukh.” […]
06/29/2011, We all know that LulzSec decided to call it quits a few days ago and left the world with a final parting gift: a cache of stolen data, emails and more. However according to some folks who downloaded the collection ended up with more than they bargained for – included was a file that many anti-virus scanners flagged as a Trojan horse. Needless to say, people thought this was another […]
06/27/2011, It’s been a long career for the relatively young 21-year-old George Hotz, a.k.a. GeoHot. After successfully unlocking the original iPhone and going on to release several jailbreaks for future iPhones, then fighting off Sony on his own after breaking down the PlayStation 3‘s security, the famed hacker is now under the same roof that Mark Zuckerberg built. That’s right, GeoHot is in the Facebook house! Speculated over the weekend, it’s […]
06/27/2011, While LulzSec might have called it quits for the moment, that does not mean the hacking threat is far from over worldwide. No sir, as there are always other folks or groups out there who would not think twice about making a name for themselves by hacking into various online institutions and websites. Even at this moment, there are tweets from different people that indicate Groupon India (SoSasta.com as it […]
06/27/2011, We all know LulzSec have decided to throw in the towel and give up its hacking activities but that doesn’t mean all the groups wrongdoings in the past have been absolved. And unfortunately for them, the authorities have been given a massive tip off on the identities of the hackers. Another hacking group, A-Team, has released into the wild the personal details of the members that make up LulzSec, obviously […]
06/24/2011, Every year since 1993 in the US, there’s a massive hacker convention called DEFCON. It is an event that hackers from all over the world attend to hang out, participate in activities and increase their knowledge on the subject of hacking. It is usually filled with adults; many of whom are computer security professionals, journalists, crackers, cyber-criminals, security researchers, and of course, hackers.
06/24/2011, After given a warning and being hit by TeaMp0isoN, you would think that LulzSec would’ve ducked out of the spotlight for awhile. But it looks like LulzSec doesn’t care about warnings. Yesterday, the hacking collective published 700 confidential documents that were stolen from the Arizona Department of Public Safety. If you’re wondering why they attacked them, LulzSec claimed it was because of Arizon’s SB1070 –a controversial anti-illegal immigration measure in the […]
06/22/2011, It looks like infamous hacking group LulzSec, has been bested by another hacking group named TeaMp0isoN_, led by a 17-year old hacker. Apparently LulzSec’s recent call for attention in the media has ruffled a number of feathers in the underground hacking “scene”. Out to deliver retribution for drawing attention towards the community, TeaMp0isoN_ hacked the website of an alleged LulzSec team member and defaced it with the following text:
