Iomega was founded in the year 1980. Based in San Diego, California, Iomega manufactures external, portable, and networking storage hardware. Since its inception, the company claims that it has sold more than 410 million digital storage drives and disks, and shipped more than 14 million terabytes of storage. EMC Corporation acquired the company in 2008 for $213 million, making Iomega the arm to one of the world's largest storage companies.
