10/03/2011, While a smartphone or tablet can boast impressive hardware specs, a lack of apps (which seems to drive the popularity and success behind a platform) can sometimes cause a device with good hardware to sell a lot less than its makers had anticipated, much like the Blackberry Playbook which featured good hardware but lack of native apps was one of the reasons it did not do as well as it […]
10/03/2011, It looks like those of you who have been holding out for a Nokia Windows Phone device might be rewarded for your patience. The folks over at MyNokiaBlog recently received an email from an anonymous tipster with details concerning the upcoming Nokia Windows Phone devices. In the email were the specs for the Nokia SeaRay, Saber and a new phone unheard of before: Ace.
09/30/2011, Are you curious as to what Nokia’s upcoming Windows Phone handsets will be bringing to the table? Well according to Microsoft, Nokia apparently has special permissions to modify Windows Phone a little bit more than what other manufacturers like Samsung and HTC can do, and it looks like 3D maps and voice controlled navigation will be one of them.
09/29/2011, The Nokia N9 is slated to be the first, as well as achieve infamy as being the last MeeGo-powered device from the Finnish phone manufacturer. While it was supposed to come in a bevy of colors, white certainly was not part of the plan. I don’t know about you, but white gadgets are nice to look at although keeping them clean and pristine can be quite the pain as most […]
09/29/2011, Don’t think that Nokia is out of the smartphone game just yet – their shift in allegiance to Windows Phone 7 might just prove to be a masterstroke in hindsight, but before that can happen, we must of course see some tangible results arrive in the form of Windows Phone-powered smartphones from Nokia. We do know that Nokia’s upcoming Windows Phone 7.5 Mango smartphone will be known as Searay (its […]
09/29/2011, According to a report from Digitimes, it looks like Nokia is on track to releasing its Windows Phone devices by the end of this year. Qualcomm has been reported to have started shipping baseband chips to Nokia and Samsung for them to build their latest Windows Phones. This report corroborates with Nokia’s statement about having “increased confidence” regarding its first Windows Phone device shipping this year. We’re two days away from […]
09/29/2011, Nokia might be on the ropes at the moment – but that does not mean the Finnish phone giant is about to throw in the towel. No sir, it seems that Nokia’s working on an internal project known as “Meltemi”, where this new software is said to power its range of upcoming low-end and entry-level handsets. Mary McDowell, Nokia’s executive vice president in charge of phones, is said to spearhead […]
09/27/2011, Nokia has started to ship their N9 smartphone to stores as well as customers – and it is the only (and perhaps the last) MeeGo handset by Nokia. No idea on whether anyone else will pick up the MeeGo operating system if they see any potential in it, but it would certainly be a brave person to drop 480 Euros and 560 Euros for the 16GB and 64GB models of […]
09/26/2011, Concept devices are always cool – simply because they are not bound by current laws of physics or manufacturing. Throw in as many features as you like into a super svelte chassis, and the concept will still work like a charm. I don’t suppose that should Nokia follow the designs of these concepts of Symbian Belle phones, they would definitely do better in the market than they are at the […]
09/26/2011, Those of you looking forward to get a Nokia phone running on Windows Phone 7 – good news. It has been reported that Nokia has “increased confidence” about shipping its first Windows Phone product this year. The company has previously slated a late 2011/early 2012 release date for its first WP7 device, but judging by the latest reports, it looks like it’ll be this year instead of next, which should […]
09/22/2011, We have read about Ford integrating the Spotify music service into their vehicles, and it seems as though the tentacles of Spotify is set to expand and unfurl even further by making its way to Nokia smartphones. This online service holds more than 15,000,000 tracks in its database, with around 10,000 new tracks being added to the database every single day. The music library is available for streaming as long […]
09/21/2011, I suppose if you’re a Symbian developer, life can be quite the tough package at the moment – after all, it surely can’t feel too good knowing that the platform you’re developing for is dying a slow but sure death. Why not look to greener pastures, with Microsoft and Nokia working together on a package of new tools which intends to prepare Nokia developers in advance before they make the […]
09/21/2011, Most smartphone users on iOS and Android are probably aware of foursquare, which is a popular application that allows users to “check in” to various locations and share that information with their friends. One of the features that makes it so fun is that it comes with an achievement system that can be unlocked, which makes checking in less mundane and more exciting, and in conjunction with Social Media Week, […]
09/20/2011, Mobile messages can be used for a variety of things. It can be used to communicate with friends and family, subscribe to services, make purchases, request for information, and several months back it was reported that it could even be used to send motivational messages to smokers who are trying to kick the habit.
