This is supposedly a known issue for users of Apple Mail on Snow Leopard, and Google and Apple are working to sort this out. Check out Google’s support page on this issue here.

Windows 7 Took Some Hints From MacOS?

Word is going around the Internet that Microsoft’s partner group manager, Simon Aldous, stated that try tried to imitate the Mac look and feel with Windows 7. Specifically, sources online quote him saying “What we've tried to do with Windows 7--whether it's traditional format or in a touch format--is create a Mac look and feel in terms of graphics.” Not too long after that, The Windows team refuted those claims, and posted it on their blog. Would you mind if Windows 7 tried to copy OSX? To be honest, as long as we get good features and stability, you’re not going to complain over who is copying who, right?

Does Apple like playing cat-and-mouse with various parties? Well, if the iTunes and Palm Pre issue is anything to go buy, Apple might get a little satisfaction out of it. You might have read the recent news of the latest OSX builds working (or not working) on Netbooks. After it seems that everything was OK in hackintosh-land, latest reports seem to indicate that OSX doesn’t jive with those again. Check out the video.

FoneSync software helps Samsung phones play nice with Mac OS X

Mac OS X can be quite the choosy partner, but that doesn't mean it is always a pain to hook up non-Apple devices to it. Nova Media from Germany has rolled out its FoneSync software which will sync your Samsung cellphone with Mac OS X via an easy to use interface. ForeSync supports models such as the M8800 Pixon, M8910, S5230, S5600, S7220, S7350, S8000 and S8300 currently, where it will retail for 19.90 Euros, while us living across the Atlantic have it good at $19.95.

Intel Atom OK with Apple again

Despite contrary reports, it seems that in the latest development build, Intel's Atom processor will once again be able to work with OS X 10.6.2 - at least that's the news which is circulating at the moment. Nothing is concrete and things could very well change in the final version, but this is where the crossing of fingers part comes in handy.

OS X update slays Intel Atom compatibility

Over the past couple of years, computing enthusiasts have installed the Apple OS X operating system on many Atom-powered netbooks, but it looks as though Apple is fed up with that kind of tinkering. Apparently, among the many changes in OS X 10.6.2, one of them stands out - it will no longer enable the operating system to function with various netbooks. No idea on whether this is intentional on Apple's part or otherwise.

Member Of Pystar Legal Team Quits

If you’ve been paying attention to the whole Pystar VS Apple drama, then here’s another update for you. It’s probably a bit of bad news of Pystar, but David Welker, co-founder of law firm Welker and Rosario, has left Pystar’s legal team. Eugene Action will be taking his place, and is already listed as the council of record. It does make you wonder whether he quit because of the pressure of fighting off Apple, or some other kind of problems cropped up. Regardless, the final outcome of this legal battle will certainly be important, so stay tuned.

Sony Vaio P Runs Mac OS X

Posted on June 14, 2009 10:34 PM

"Blasphemy!", cries Apple fans as they lay their eyes upon this Sony Vaio P netbook that is running Mac OS X. While it will run faster than Vista on this clearly underpowered device, it won't be able to handle 3D applications and games due to the lack of its GMA500 video chipset drivers. The 3G modem is also out of commission as well, alongside Ethernet, Wi-Fi and GPS so don't bother bringing this out if you plan to get some surfing done while you're on the go.

Exchange Is Now Built-In

Business users will be pleased to know that Exchange is now built-in, and is able to synchronize with integrated Mail and Contact apps from Apple. This ought to bode well for Mac users since it will open up a whole new market for users who want to use Macs for their everyday work but previously couldn't due to the gap in between which has now been bridged. Most people who are averse to Outlook would prefer to reap the benefits of Exchange within a Mac environment. Snow Leopard’s presentation is finally over, and it will retail for $29 (single license) in order to encourage as many users to upgrade as possible. The family pack is going for $49 (5-seat) when both versions are released this September (Developer Preview is out today).

OS X Snow Leopard

Posted on June 8, 2009 10:34 AM

Just as expected, OS X Snow Leopard was also announced after the customary jibes against Windows Vista. We believe in touting the strengths of your products instead of making low blows against your rivals, unless your own product has nothing much to offer. Snow Leopard supposedly offers over 90% refinements, new technologies and the inclusion of Exchange support that ought to keep the corporate types happy. Finder wasn't changed, but the base code has been re-written, although this doesn't really go down well with some of the audience since Finder isn't exactly high on their "fond of" list in the first place. Installation of Snow Leopard is 45% faster though, which wouldn't really make too much of a difference unless you're a tech guy who installs tons of OS X each day for customers.

Opening JPEG files will also be twice as fast, letting you go through your naughty picture collection in double quick time. The trackpad can also now be used to spell out Chinese characters - now that ought to make some people happy. Safari 4.0 will also be included with Snow Leopard, and will be 7.8x faster than IE8 - according to Apple's benchmarks, of course. Safari 4.0 is supposed to be crash-resistant, and offers an increase in 64-bit Javascript performance of up to 50%. Quicktime 10 will feature Modern foundation, HTTP streaming, support for hardware acceleration and ColorSync alongside a tweaked user interface to keep up with the times.

Apple OS X 10.5.7 Update Coming This Friday

Rumor has it that the latest Apple OS X 10.5.7 update will be hitting servers as early as this Friday, where you will then be able to kiss goodbye to a bunch of networking, syncing and Bluetooth issues as the update fixes the mentioned and more. After all, developers were seeded with build 9J58 on Wednesday, April 29, and this could possibly be the final build corrected issues with iChat and Safari. The same rumor also points toward the very real possibility of this being the final update to Leopard before Snow Leopard's release. What do you think?
