02/28/2010, Sprint has lowered the price of its already cheap Palm Pixi to just $50 in the US, hoping to bolster sales of the entry-level webOS phone by some margin. After all, Palm isn’t exactly doing gangbusters financially at the moment even with a great looking smartphone (we’re talking about the Palm Pre and the Pre Plus) with its webOS platform, since they seem to be a little too late to […]
02/10/2010, It’s not an official announcement, but a user over at the PreCentral forums, claiming to be a Sprint technician, has released a picture indicating that the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi will be receiving updates on the 15th of Feb. The features listed in this update seem to be the features that were supposed to debut on webOS 1.4, so you might want to take this little “leak” with a […]
02/01/2010, If you’ve been eyeing the Motorola Devour, we’ve got a little tidbit of information that might pique your interest. It seems that the Devour will be powered by a Qualcomm MSM7627 processor, which is the same processor used by the Palm Pixi and BlackBerry Curve 8530. The MSM7627 comes from the ARM11 family, and sports a 600MHz application processor, which isn’t all that shabby. It’s also been said that the […]
01/31/2010, Even after checking out the NES emulator for webOS, do you still think that the Palm Pre isn’t a good device to enjoy games on? Well, throw in the VisualBoyAdvance for webOS, and you might have to rethink your idea on the Palm Pre. VisualBoyAdvance (VBA) is an open source Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance emulator, and now it’s been ported to webOS. If you want proof that games […]
01/07/2010, AT&T CEO, Ralph de la Vega, has announced that AT&T will be offering 2 Palm webOS phones soon. Too bad he didn’t mention what phones they would be, though if there aren’t any new phones from Palm, it’s probably going to be a GSM version of the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi. Other possibilities include the Pixi Plus, which will supposedly have Wi-Fi, and also the Pre Plus, which will […]
12/30/2009, If you’re a Palm fan and are looking out for more developments from Palm, the good news is that Verizon Wireless will be carrying the Palm Pixi, as well as the Palm Pre. The official names of these phones from Verizon should be dubbed the Palm Pre Plus, and Palm Pixi Plus. Word is that these phones will be shipping webOS version 1.3.5, so hopefully you won’t have to upgrade […]
12/29/2009, It certainly isn’t the best way for Palm to end the year, but that’s the way it is sometimes. Latest reports indicate that while 800,000 units of the Pixi were supposed to be shipped, part supplier Compal is only going to be shipping 600,000 as the device hasn’t passed Verizon’s software tests. It’s very likely that Verizon will be receiving an upgraded version of the Palm Pixi that will sport […]
12/18/2009, Owners of the Palm Pre can look forward to news of webOS 1.3.5 being confirmed, where among the massive list of improvements would include the installation of more applications, enhanced Wi-Fi and app performance, better battery life and increased speed and responsiveness for Palm Pixi owners. Seems that Palm is more focused to concentrate more on the software than hardware, so hopefully whatever that comes out after this will be […]
12/13/2009, Could Verizon finally be another carrier that offers the Palm Pixi? We believe so, as the FCC has just cleared this CDMA-based Palm Pixi which will come with 802.11b/g Wi-Fi. To date, Verizon has already confirmed that they will be bringing a webOS-powered Palm device sometime early next year, which is most probably the Palm Pixi here. For those who are eager to jump on the webOS bandwagon, would you […]
12/07/2009, Could the Pink colored Palm Pixi be real? Leaked screenshots that are busy making rounds on the Internet indicate that there is a strong possibility that the phone might be real. If you were to check out Sprint’s buyback page, there is also existence of a pink Palm Pixi (at time of writing). Girls, would you go for a pink colored Palm Pixi if Sprint were to release it?
12/05/2009, While having 8GB of storage space on your Palm is great, the downside of webOS is that you’re stuck with a rather weird limit which only allows a few hundred megabytes of app installations. With more than 500 apps available for webOS, it’s probably quite irritating. Now it seems that webOS 1.3.5 will resolve this by moving the storage to another partition. There isn’t any official word on this just […]
12/02/2009, Looks like the Palm Pre is being beaten by its younger sibling, the Palm Pixi (read our review) as the latter has received the webOS 1.3.2 update – even before the Pre. This update isn’t game changing, although it will address lag whenever multiple programs are running. Have you installed the firmware update yet, and how do you find it?
11/23/2009, When the Palm Pixi first appeared in May, there was a lot of excitement about an affordable Web OS device with a slim and sexy design. By the time Pixi had arrived to Market, a deluge of Android phones lead by the Motorola Droid and the powerful iPhone 3GS had been released. Android 2.0 and Motoblur feature functionalities that are close to Palm’s Synergy, while the Pixi lacks WiFi. At […]
11/19/2009, Amazon.com has put up the Palm Pixi from Sprint for a mere $24.99, coupled with free activation credit up to $36. Of course, this would mean having to stick to the Pixi for a couple of years, so do calculate the total cost of ownership including monthly fees for 24 months before you take the plunge. This offer is good only through November 23, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. To […]
