12/18/2009, CES 2010 is the launchpad for many a new technology, and if rumors are correct, Verizon’s Palm Pre could possibly receive a direct upgrade, as the company’s internal systems have pointed to a “Palm Pre Plus” without divulging any further tantalizing morsels of information. What does the Pre Plus suggest – could it mean that we’ll get more storage (with a memory card slot) and/or superior performance over the current […]
12/07/2009, Could the Pink colored Palm Pixi be real? Leaked screenshots that are busy making rounds on the Internet indicate that there is a strong possibility that the phone might be real. If you were to check out Sprint’s buyback page, there is also existence of a pink Palm Pixi (at time of writing). Girls, would you go for a pink colored Palm Pixi if Sprint were to release it?
12/05/2009, While having 8GB of storage space on your Palm is great, the downside of webOS is that you’re stuck with a rather weird limit which only allows a few hundred megabytes of app installations. With more than 500 apps available for webOS, it’s probably quite irritating. Now it seems that webOS 1.3.5 will resolve this by moving the storage to another partition. There isn’t any official word on this just […]
12/04/2009, It seems that O2 Germany has confirmed that the Palm Pre webOS 1.3.1 ROM has a bug affecting SMS text messages. This latest version of the OS seems to interpret some special characters wrong, which results in the SMS being switched to Unicode (which has a max of 70 characters). If users aren’t paying attention to the SMS text counter when this occurs, the text message might end up being […]
11/23/2009, When the Palm Pixi first appeared in May, there was a lot of excitement about an affordable Web OS device with a slim and sexy design. By the time Pixi had arrived to Market, a deluge of Android phones lead by the Motorola Droid and the powerful iPhone 3GS had been released. Android 2.0 and Motoblur feature functionalities that are close to Palm’s Synergy, while the Pixi lacks WiFi. At […]
11/23/2009, When you talk about the market for cellphones everybody looks at China as the most delectable, so RIM and Palm must be fairly happy that word on the street is that they’ve managed to set up a deal with China Telecom, which will see their phones on said carrier somewhere between the end of 2009 or early in 2010. With an estimated 700 million subscribers in China, just a sliver […]
11/23/2009, Folks living in Europe and are rocking to the Palm Pre GSM version can now update their firmware to webOS 1.3.1, where features such as support for LinkedIn and Yahoo! will now appear as a calendar/contacts/IM account (similar to that of Google and Facebook). Apart from that, this firmware update will also make it possible to forward text and multimedia messages. The update weighs in at 134MB, where you can […]
11/19/2009, Amazon.com has put up the Palm Pixi from Sprint for a mere $24.99, coupled with free activation credit up to $36. Of course, this would mean having to stick to the Pixi for a couple of years, so do calculate the total cost of ownership including monthly fees for 24 months before you take the plunge. This offer is good only through November 23, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. To […]
11/16/2009, Want to get a Palm Pre for cheap if you happen to live in Canada? You can do so with WirelessWave, where it retails for $49.95. The catch? You’ll need to sign up for a 3-year contract. No idea on whether you want to keep yourself hooked to such a contract for so long, as the average 2-year plan seems to be far too long IMHO.
11/15/2009, Prefer the candybar design of the Palm Pixi over the slider form factor of the Palm Pre? Well, the Palm Pixi is now being offered by Sprint, and it’s going for $99.99 together with a 2-year contract, after a $100 mail-in rebate. Of course, if you’re patient and not rushing to get the phone today, you could always get the Pixi from Wirefly for just $24.99.
11/15/2009, We already know that Adobe has promised webOS users that they’ll get Flash 10.1 on their devices in the first half of 2010, and now it looks like Android users will be getting the same deal too, as a message from Adobe reads: “Adobe Flash Player 10.1 is coming to Android 2.0 and future releases in the first half of 2010.” Now hopefully Apple will succumb to the pressure and […]
11/15/2009, Palm Pre owners should be licking their lips, since Palm and Sprint have officially released webOS 1.3.1 for owners of the Pre. While this latest firmware (sadly) doesn’t restore the iTunes syncing, it does offer some updates features such as syncing Yahoo contacts and calendar with Synergy, watching widescreen videos in widescreen mode, forward and copy SMS messages and some other stuff. Check out details of the firmware upgrade here.
11/14/2009, Rumors always seem to do amazing things to stocks, and it seems that Palm’s stock has been positively affected by the latest rumors, rising by 8% amidst speculation that the company may be bought out by Nokia. You have to admit that the news does seem a little weird though, seeing that Palm and Nokia don’t have all that much in common. Nokia focuses on Symbian and Maemo, while Palm […]
11/14/2009, Looking to get a Palm Pre to use in the US? Well, if you’re willing to make a trip to Mexico, you could. Specifically, Mexico’s Telcel will be getting the Palm Pre on November 27th. Of course, with the Recent Pixi sales, you’ll probably think twice before making all that effort to get your hands on a Palm Pre.
