09/23/2011, If you’ve been following the saga of Apple vs Samsung, it would appear that so far Apple has been the one throwing punches while Samsung sits there and takes them, appealing injunction after the other. All things considered, from an outsider’s perspective it does make Apple look like a bully, but it looks like Samsung has had enough and plans to get aggressive.
09/23/2011, While Apple vs Samsung is probably the biggest headline grabber as far as patent legal battles are concerned, the battle between Apple vs Motorola has taken an interesting turn of events. A little over a week ago, Apple requested that the lawsuit by Motorola against them be stayed until the Google and Motorola acquisition deal had gone through, but now (and unsurprisingly) Motorola is against that idea.
09/20/2011, Just yesterday we reported that Samsung reportedly had plans to get back at Apple for their recent wave of lawsuits. It seems that Samsung was reported as having plans to ban Apple’s yet-to-be-announced iPhone 5 the minute it attempts to arrive in South Korea. Given how Apple has been on a crusade to get several of Samsung’s products banned in various parts of the world, it did seem rather fitting […]
09/16/2011, It seems like we can’t get through a week without hearing about another Apple vs Samsung/Samsung vs Apple lawsuit. For those who haven’t been keeping track, both companies have taken their patent war to a global scale, with Apple chasing Samsung to Australia, then Europe where they got a successful injunction upheld in Germany and then taking it to Japan. Samsung then brought the fight to France, and earlier this […]
09/13/2011, All this while it has been Apple who has been going after Samsung. They chased Samsung from the US, to Australia, Europe and then Japan, but now it looks like Samsung has decided to strike first with their own lawsuit in France.
09/12/2011, Last week we reported that the German courts upheld the injunction on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, scoring Apple a major victory. As it turns out that may be a hollow victory for Apple as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is still being sold in Germany, all thanks to a legal loophole that we’re guessing Samsung is happily making use of.
09/09/2011, We’re sure most of you guys have already heard or know this by now, that Apple has been chasing Samsung halfway across the world trying to get their Galaxy smartphones and tablets banned due to Apple claiming they were too similar in design to their iOS products, namely the iPhone and iPad. So far Apple has been successful at getting temporary injunctions but now it looks like Apple has won […]
09/09/2011, The patent wars have been going on for quite a bit now, and while we do believe that your intellectual property should be protected, at this point in time it does seem like these big companies are just using patents as an excuse to edge each other out of the competition. Probably the most recognizable patent war at the moment would be Apple versus Samsung, where Apple has chased Samsung […]
09/08/2011, Earlier today we reported on how Apple was reportedly suing Samsung in Japan for the reasons as they have in the US, Australia and Europe. For some reason Apple is dead set in squashing the possibility of Samsung ever selling their Galaxy smartphones and tablets anywhere in the world.
09/08/2011, Another day, another lawsuit. This time it looks like Apple, HP, Huawei, LG, ZTE, HTC, RIM and Samsung are the ones being collectively sued by ClassCo over caller ID patents. According to ClassCo, the companies mentioned have infringed upon its caller ID patents that are being used in their VoiceAnnounce device (as pictured above), which not only displays the caller’s name/number, but as the name implies, will announce it as […]
09/06/2011, The fierce patent infringement lawsuit between Apple and Samsung is still going on, with Apple claiming that Samsung infringed upon its patents and designs for their Galaxy Tab and Galaxy smartphone products. While that may or may not be the case (that’s for the lawyers to argue out and for the judges to decide), as to whether these alleged infringements are impacting Apple’s iPad sales are now being called into […]
08/25/2011, Protecting intellectual property is important as it encourages innovation and entrepreneurship, but given the recent wave of patent wars in the tech world we have to wonder where the line is drawn between protecting your IP rights and abusing the system.
08/10/2011, Apple seems to be on a roll lately with all these new lawsuits popping up. Their currently legal battle against Samsung over patent infringement has led to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 having its sales halted in both Australia and the EU (with the exception of the Netherlands, who is reportedly next on the list). Now it seems that Apple has a new target in sight and this time they […]
08/10/2011, A little over a week ago we reported that Apple had managed to halt the sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia. Samsung responded by saying that they will still push ahead for the launch of an Australia version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, which has led some to believe that Samsung may be skirting around the issue by changing some of the hardware which was not part […]
