06/20/2012, PayPal, probably the world’s most popular online payment service, is reportedly overhauled and redesigned. According to TechCrunch, the new design appears to be “touch-friendly”. The publication said that an avid reader sent them some screenshots of PayPal’s new look which you can also see above. A PayPal representative allegedly confirmed the report saying the screenshots are indeed taken from their site, and that it will be announcing the changes officially […]
02/23/2012, Heard of Boku Inc. before? Well, if you answered in the negative, heed this – you might want to pay closer attention to Boku from now on, as the online payments company will go up against PayPal which is owned by eBay. Boku intends to work on a mobile payment service which can actually see action in physical stores, and with the financial backing of venture capital firms such as […]
02/21/2012, Right now, the acronym PIGS seem to be very popular in Europe, denoting the four countries whose economies are in deep trouble – Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain. I do not suppose that you can always substitute the only vowel in the acronym with Ireland? After all, it is not as though everything in that country is peachy keen either. Having said that, online transactions company PayPal is committed to […]
11/18/2011, Hmmm, we all know that there are plenty of casual games over at Facebook, and while some of these are free to play, others take on a “freemium” role – where purchasing in-game items will require transactions of real world cash. Why not use PayPal then, as a platform to get that money transferred? I guess this is also part of the reason why PayPal has just launched a peer-to-peer […]
11/09/2011, NFC – or Near Field Communications if you prefer to mention everything by name, does hold plenty of promise in the world of mobile devices, but it remains to be seen just which company is able to harness the power of NFC to make it a “must have” piece of technology. Arriving on the scene in the US in a mainstream manner via Samsung’s Nexus S from Google, it made […]
10/24/2011, As far as the rest of the world is concerned, PayPal is one of the leading solutions for conducting internet transactions, whose services can be more commonly found on websites such as eBay, but now it looks like it could be facing a new competitor in the form of Alipay, which is China’s answer to PayPal.
09/16/2011, While NFC is a great idea for mobile payments, the sad fact is that unlike Japan, where NFC is widely adopted, not many phones in the US come with NFC technology enabled. Even the latest Blackberry devices that supposedly come shipped with NFC have that feature disabled when it comes onto the carriers. If mobile payments are your thing and you don’t want to sacrifice your current phone for an […]
07/30/2011, Remember last year when PayPal was attacked by Anonymous after it froze Wikileaks’ account? Well, it looks like PayPal has finally decided to strike back against the hacking coalition. Apparently the hackers left behind enough information to be traceable. PayPal has reported that it has given a list of over 1,000 IP addresses to the FBI: IP addresses that were linked to the PayPal attack last year.
07/28/2011, Purchasing your operating system online is a novel idea, as there aren’t any physical discs for you to contend with, and neither do you need to worry about impacting the earth further with more paper printed, packaging, plastics, and having it shipped to your doorstep. Unfortunately, it seems that the Mac OS X Lion’s downloading process has hit a snafu as John Christman claims to have been charged a grand […]
07/21/2011, A little over a week ago we reported that PayPal was introducing a new way to transfer money between two people, and it was through the use of NFC technology on devices such as the Samsung Nexus S.
07/13/2011, Ever since Google Wallet was launched not too long ago, it seems to have inspired the NFC-payment movement in the country, with the next company to enter the game being PayPal – one of the world’s most popular ePayment systems. Today, PayPal has just announced the launch of its NFC-enabled Android widget that lets its users make payments with their smartphones. Instead of having to log on to PayPal to […]
07/05/2011, All of a sudden, hacking has received plenty of news coverage, (no) thanks to Sony’s security breach followed by plenty of other instances in recent months. Well, the entire hacking keyword isn’t going to fade into the limelight anytime soon, what with hackers having seized control of a PayPal Twitter feed earlier today, sending out messages which criticized the payment processor. This is the second attack of its type in […]
06/30/2011, Have you ever bought anything online before? If you have, chances are that you’ve used PayPal – or at least you’ve heard of it. In case you didn’t know PayPal is, it is a digital payment system that helps you pay or collect money for your online transactions. From its humble beginnings in the year 2000, PayPal quickly gained traction in the relatively unexplored market and set off to conquer […]
05/26/2011, eBay and their own payment subsidiary, PayPal, did not greet Google’s most recent introduction, Google Wallet, with open arms. No sir, they instead followed up the launch by going straight to the courts – suing Google and a couple of executives for allegedly stealing trade secrets so that Google Wallet can be created. Google Wallet’s project lead Osama Bedier has been accused of feeding confidential PayPal information to Google so […]
