10/31/2013, Your local blood bank could very well one day start carrying something other than human blood as the Balkan News Agency is reporting a team of scientist from Romania have successfully created artificial blood. The artificial blood has been successfully tested in mice as they didn’t experience any negative symptoms at all as the blood was able to perform exactly how organic blood does.
12/07/2012, It’s Friday which means we’re all just a few hours away to the weekend, which also means we’re a few hours away from getting our drink on. I’m not much of a drinker, but I certainly can appreciate the deliciousness that is the piña colada. And apparently scientists in Australia can also appreciate the delicious drink as they have grown coconut-flavored pineapples. Australian researchers in a facility located in Queensland […]
12/02/2011, Now it doesn’t matter how big or how glossy or how vivid our smartphone/tablet displays are. Without fail our greasy fingers (and that of our friends/family/strangers) will stain our displays, leaving long and ugly fingerprints and marks on them at the end of the day. If you’re the type that can’t stand looking at a smudged display, the good news is that a team of German scientists have come up […]
10/18/2011, When it comes to buying fruits, most of us just inspect the outer layer of the fruit to check for mould or bruises which might indicate that the fruit may have been damaged on its way to the market. Thanks to the efforts of people working at sorting facilities that inspect the fruit before they make their way to the market, most of the time we end up with fruit […]
10/17/2011, With the quality of our media on our computers getting larger (i.e. HD movies, Blu-ray rips, etc), and with the quality of our games going up and eating up more resources, we’re starting to need more and more hard disk space just to back everything up. Sure there are external hard drives that can hold several terabytes, but what if we got to the point where we need to bring […]
10/17/2011, There’s an increasing trend to start producing gadgets that are getting thinner and thinner with each generation. Heck, Motorola is set to unveil the Droid RAZR, which based on the legacy of the RAZR feature phone, will most probably end up being one of the thinnest smartphones to date. But how much smaller/thinner could be make our devices? Well if the scientists at Northwestern University manage to commercialize their new […]
10/03/2011, What cooler way to deliver drugs (the good kind that saves lives) to your system than by shooting nanorockets through your body’s system? Not only is this supposedly a faster method of delivery, but will also be able to target specific areas of the body to deliver the drugs to.
09/12/2011, Thanks to scientists and their research at the University of Leeds, it appears that jelly has been upgraded from a tasty treat to something that could possibly power your mobile devices in the future, in a thinner, cheaper and safer manner – just don’t expect it to be edible or come in fruity flavors!
04/07/2011, US researchers over at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have laid claim that patients who had a temporary surgical implant, are able to make use of regions in the brain which control speech to “talk” to a computer. This unique implant enables patients to move a cursor around the computer screen through the power of thought, although making a particular sound will work as well if […]
02/03/2011, Ever wanted a cloak like the Harry Potter uses to sneak about Hogwarts at night? Well, we’re on step closer to such technology. Since we don’t have magic, we have the brains of scientists to create such a device instead. How the invisibility cloak works is that it bends light around the object it covers. Previously, the cloak was only capable of bending microwave rays, which was pretty useless since […]
01/18/2011, Back in the year 2007, the frozen carcass of a one-month-old woolly mammoth calf was discovered in Russia. The mammoth was estimated to have been frozen for approximately 10,000 years. Though the mammoth has been long gone and dead, it appears that scientists are trying to give it another shot at life – through the power of cloning. Scientists are trying to extract the correct cells of the woolly mammoth […]
