Millennium Falcon Dreamcast Mod
Posted on March 15, 2010 8:53 AM

One look at this mod and you shouldn’t need much more information on why you should mod your Dreamcast in this way – it just looks cool. A modder seems to have done a rather good job by turning Sega’s short-lived Dreamcast console into the Millennium Falcon. Surprisingly, the Dreamcast seems to fit the mold rather well, which kind of makes you wonder if the Dreamcast and Millennium Falcon were meant for each other. Video showcasing this mod is available after the jump.
IntoDream turns Dreamcast portable

The Dreamcast is one of those consoles that had everything going for it, and yet it still died an unnatural death to the chagrin of many. Sega fan who prefers to go by the moniker Bacteria has spent the last four months of his life working on a portable Sega Dreamcast, where it will also come with an integrated VMU (Visual Memory Unit). You get around two hours of battery power with this puppy. Great job, Bacteria!

This isn't the first (but it might be the last, who knows?) Sega Dreamcast developed, but it does look pretty stunning. You get clean and compact styling, where it packs in a 7" widescreen display, an integrated controller and stereo speakers. Too bad such DIY projects will never hit the market...

Ben Heck might be the undisputed king of mods in the world of video gaming, but that doesn't mean other people don't have talent, either. Jay Hauf decided to turn his old Sega Dreamcast controller into a docking station for the iPhone, breathing new life into what most people would think to be an obsolete console (which it more or less is actually, despite holding the most promise during its generation). Glad to know the Dreamcast can still contribute to the geek community in a totally different way many years after its demise.
