08/10/2011, Earlier today we reported that Facebook had announced a standalone messenger app which basically allows you to send messages to your Facebook friends without having to launch the native Facebook app, which we decided was rather bloated and consumed data unnecessarily, especially if all you want to do is chat with your Facebook friends.
08/10/2011, After recent reports of the Indian government’s intentions to strong arm RIM into compromising the security of its BlackBerry devices, it looks like the country is leaving no stone unturned. Recent reports state that India is also requesting for the same permission to private data from services like Skype, Twitter, Facebook and Google.
08/04/2011, Don’t you just love software? They’re like languages – living, constantly changing (hopefully for the better) in the way it is used. Well, the same can be said for software as well, and the Skype for Android app is one such example. A new version of it has made an appearance on the Android Market, where it will now boast two-way video calling support not on just a few, but […]
08/03/2011, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 looks set to be getting Skype integrated – sooner than later, of course. After all, Microsoft’s most recent Xbox awards survey saked, “Other than playing games, which of the following activities do you enjoy on Xbox 360?” Among the answers include viewing your favorite DVDs and Zune movies, while “using Skype” also makes up one of the answers. Surely Microsoft is not going to talk about the […]

08/02/2011, After being leaked in a video clip a while ago, there hasn’t been any news about the development of the Skype iPad app until recently. Today, the app was finally released onto the Apple App Store – and then pulled off just as quickly. Apparently it was released prematurely, according to its Twitter feed. While there were a lucky few people who managed to grab the app before it was […]
07/28/2011, Good news for Skype users with Windows computers – your favorite VoIP/instant messenger has just received a new update according to an official announcement on the Skype blog. Now at version 5.5, the latest version of Skype features a lot more Facebook integration. (I wouldn’t be surprised if Skype started to drop its official blue for Facebook’s darker shade of blue instead) which is unsurprising see how the two companies […]
07/21/2011, Skype for Android brought video calling to the platform not very long ago, and like a number of apps that have launched on Android – it wasn’t fully compatible with all Android devices (Netflix comes to mind). If you’re an owner of a phone that doesn’t have Skype video calling – fret not. Skype has been busy working hard to make sure that support for Android phones that are capable […]
07/07/2011, Facebook is certainly not going to take the upcoming Google+ social network for granted, relying on its 750 million (and growing) user base alone to pull it through difficult times. No sir, the social network giant has an arsenal of its own to remain ahead of the competition, and we have already seen them fire a salvo in the Facebook Skype team up earlier this week that was deemed as […]

07/05/2011, While there are rumors that Skype could be integrated into Facebook tomorrow, how about something which can be substantiated with facts? We are looking at the Skype 5.2 update for Mac which has been made available for download to the masses. Just what does version 5.2 bring to the table? It offers group screen sharing capability, going one up on the previous version that does screen sharing on a one-to-one […]
07/04/2011, It has recently been reported that come July 6th, Facebook will be announcing a tie-up with Skype which would allow users on Facebook to video chat via the website. Since Facebook has already been integrated with Skype, it would be a logical assumption that Skype could see itself being integrated into Facebook too. As it stands, Facebook has over 750 million active subscribers, compared to Skype’s 170 million, which would […]
07/01/2011, AVG has just issued new warning to all Skype users, informing them about the recent rise in Vishing attacks. In case you were wondering what “Vishing” was (don’t worry, I was too before I read the warning), it is a new form of attack that’s been plaguing users of the popular VoIP service. It is basically a voice variation of the common phishing scam.
