11/10/2009, Softbank, the No.3 wireless carrier in Japan did reveal today that the company is looking to unveil its first Android-powered smartphone in spring sometime next year, following similar launches by NTT DoCoMo and Verizon Wireless. Softbank did not reveal the hardware manufacturer behind this Android-powered handset (although we think HTC would be a decent option), we do know it will come with an OLED display.

10/29/2009, Remember the HTC Eris that we talked about yesterday? Well, it seems as though this handset will retail for $99 with an agreement, of course (presumably 2 years) when released. This is interesting considering the HTC Hero is going for nearly double that amount at $180 on Sprint, although the Eris won’t come with high end hardware specifications.
