08/15/2011, Everybody’s going green these days, and it’s been reported that even the soldiers in Australia will soon be joining the movement. The Australian National University (ANU) have managed to create wearable lightweight solar panels that convert light directly into electricity using SILVER solar cell technology. Designed for the Department of Defense, these silver cells have a bendable radius of around a few centimeters, which allow it to be used as […]
08/15/2011, Most places on earth receive at least a wee bit of sunlight, some more than others, which is why solar power is one of the more reliable forms of renewable energy which we can depend on to power our devices. Well, how about a solar-powered refuge that can be deployed just about anywhere, creating a form of temporary shelter for those in dire need? Known as the Rifugio, it is […]
08/14/2011, After working for the past two years on its latest all-solar vehicle, the 30-student Solar Car Project team from Stanford is ready to put to the test what they call the fastest solar car ever built. Called the Xenith, it will be taken to the Australian Outback later this year to take part in the World Solar Challenge – a race where solar-powered vehicles will have to duke it out on […]

08/11/2011, Now we’re talking – a smartphone with an LCD display that has built-in photovoltaic technology, letting it juice up your phone without even having to plug it into a nearby power outlet, now how about that? This is a new form of technology developed by researchers at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science, where this novel concept will harvest and recycle energy for electronic devices. Basically, […]
08/11/2011, Most solar-powered devices aren’t exactly the most aesthetically pleasing gadgets around, featuring large ugly black panels that are designed to absorb as much sunlight as possible. Well, an industrial designer named Eric Botzen of Botzen Design thinks this shouldn’t be the case and has designed one of the nicest looking solar-powered chargers we’ve come across.
08/11/2011, You have no idea what kind of gear that our boys and girls in uniform have to tote around, and needless to say in this technologically advanced era, most of their gear would require some manner to power it. When you’re on the battlefield, however, it might be rather tricky getting juice when required – hence SkyBuilt Power from Virginia coming up with the SkyCase and the SkyPAK for the […]
08/10/2011, So you’ve just bought yourself a brand new electric vehicle (EV) from Ford. Good for you! Now there’s one less person in the world contributing to pollution, but why stop there? Why not take it a step further and install solar panels for your home? If you have the spare cash or are willing to pay on installments just to go green and do your part for the Earth, it […]
08/10/2011, Apple has prided themselves in doing something for the environment, such as making sure that their products are made from materials that do not harm the environment, such as the lack of certain chemicals. They have also a recycling program, which until recently required the user to pay $30 if they sent in a product for recycling, or for free if they bought a Mac at the same time.

08/08/2011, Solar powered chargers rarely look good, although to be fair a good looking design for a solar powered charger was probably not at the top of the list, but that does not seem to be the case with the Dunhill Solar Charger (QGL079).
08/08/2011, The Elektra One has finally debuted – a few months after we talked about it. Back in March, we did not have that many details about the Elektra One, but time has certainly changed the situation as you will now be able to check out just what this solar-powered airplane is capable off. SolarWorld is behind the solar panels on the Elektra One, while German business partner PC Aero completes […]
