Well, if you’re one of those craving for more of the Spectre we’ve got some video footage with an HP representative giving us a rundown of the ultrabook at CES. We get […]
01/10/2012, [CES 2012] It is Milli Vanilli all over again when Intel’s Mooley Eden was caught cheating at yesterday’s CES 2012 press conference, where he played a video file using VLC Media Player while ‘hand-synching’ a driving game to lead the audience into thinking that this is actually a live demonstration of the graphical capabilities as demonstrated by the Ivy Bridge platform that will be found in future Ultrabooks. It would […]
01/09/2012, [CES 2012] 2012 is the year of the ultrabook, with Intel and HP leading the way. With tablets competing against mobile computer and offering sleek bodies with enough power to get by the day without recharging, the PC manufacturers have to put more effort in the industrial design than ever. I am very happy to discover several awesomely designed devices at CES this year, such as the Toshiba Excite […]
01/09/2012, [CES 2012] At Intel’s press conference today, the company unveiled its plans to flood the market with over 75 different ultrabooks this year. While most of them weren’t anything out of the ordinary, there was one which caught our attention: a prototype Windows 8 ultrabook called the Nikiski. While it wasn’t mentioned who was the manufacturer behind it, that didn’t stop us from being marveled at its ingenuity.
01/08/2012, [CES 2012] Acer kicks off their CES 2012 campaign with the Acer Aspire S5, which is what they deem to be thinnest Ultrabook in the world. Seeing is believing, and here at the Acer press conference, the Aspire S5 is certainly a beauty to behold, measuring a mere 15 mm at the thickest point. Tipping the scales at under 1.35 kg, it will be accompanied by a 13.3″ LCD display. […]
01/08/2012, [CES 2012] Acer continues the Ultrabook game with their latest release, the Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra that approaches netbook-level battery life without having to weigh a ton. We are talking about an 8-hour battery life here, and as you know, Ultrabooks have far beefier hardware specifications for heavy duty mobile computing purposes compared to netbooks that can be considered as a “notebook lite” if you want to look at that […]
01/07/2012, [CES 2012] After making an entry into the tablet market last year, it looks like Vizio is ready to take on a bigger market. According to a Finantial Times report, Vizio will be showing off two Windows 7 all-in-one computers and three notebooks at CES 2012. The computers are touted to feature sleek, aluminum-styled designs “that pay due homage to Apple’s MacBook and iMac products.” Not many details were released […]
01/04/2012, [CES 2012] CES 2012 is set to be a party for Ultrabooks – and LG intends to join in with the LG Z330 and Z430 models. The LG Z330 (as seen above) is said to be a “super Ultrabook” which will actually perform far better than regular Ultrabooks. Despite touting better performance, the Z330 still remains the most compact Ultrabook from their stable, making this nothing but an engineering marvel […]
01/04/2012, The Samsung Series 5 ultrabooks were announced for South Korea last year, and there was no mention of US availability though they were rumored to make an appearance at CES 2012. Well, it looks like the laptops will be arriving here after all – at least according to reports online. The Series 5 Ultrabooks are available for pre-order in the US thanks to online retailer, J&R. No word on a […]
12/21/2011, One of the original problems that manufacturers faced with regards to ultrabooks was its price. Intel was pushing for ultrabooks to be priced around the $999 mark and many manufacturers found it quite difficult to achieve those numbers, but given how fast we are advancing in technology and as evidenced by the number of ultrabooks starting to appear in today’s market, it looks like manufacturers have managed to overcome that […]
12/16/2011, Netbooks were sort of an alternative to laptops as they tended to be smaller, thus allowing for more mobility if all you wanted to do was surf the web and type up some documents. However it looks like under the pressure of the ever-increasing popularity of the ultrabook standard, Dell has appeared to have backed out from the Mini netbook line.
12/15/2011, If you were looking forward to getting your hands on Lenovo’s brand new ultrabook, the U300s, the bad news is that unless you made your pre-order early, new orders for the ultrabook are now seeing a backorder of up to four weeks or more according to Lenovo’s website.
12/12/2011, So far ultrabooks have usually been in the 11-13” range, but Samsung has decided to defy convention by unveiling a 14” ultrabook (and seemingly stretching the definition of an ultrabook) alongside a 13” model under their Series 5 title, which so far has been reserved for Samsung’s Chrome OS-based Chromebook series.
12/12/2011, According to a recent interview that AMD gave with The Australian (requires a subscription), it would seem as though AMD has plans to enter the ultrabook game themselves. However it is obvious that they will not be using the ultrabook name as it is a term coined by their competitor, Intel, and that they could be entering the market come January of 2012.
