12/18/2009, Owners of the Palm Pre can look forward to news of webOS 1.3.5 being confirmed, where among the massive list of improvements would include the installation of more applications, enhanced Wi-Fi and app performance, better battery life and increased speed and responsiveness for Palm Pixi owners. Seems that Palm is more focused to concentrate more on the software than hardware, so hopefully whatever that comes out after this will be […]
12/07/2009, Could the Pink colored Palm Pixi be real? Leaked screenshots that are busy making rounds on the Internet indicate that there is a strong possibility that the phone might be real. If you were to check out Sprint’s buyback page, there is also existence of a pink Palm Pixi (at time of writing). Girls, would you go for a pink colored Palm Pixi if Sprint were to release it?
12/05/2009, While having 8GB of storage space on your Palm is great, the downside of webOS is that you’re stuck with a rather weird limit which only allows a few hundred megabytes of app installations. With more than 500 apps available for webOS, it’s probably quite irritating. Now it seems that webOS 1.3.5 will resolve this by moving the storage to another partition. There isn’t any official word on this just […]
12/04/2009, It seems that O2 Germany has confirmed that the Palm Pre webOS 1.3.1 ROM has a bug affecting SMS text messages. This latest version of the OS seems to interpret some special characters wrong, which results in the SMS being switched to Unicode (which has a max of 70 characters). If users aren’t paying attention to the SMS text counter when this occurs, the text message might end up being […]
11/23/2009, When the Palm Pixi first appeared in May, there was a lot of excitement about an affordable Web OS device with a slim and sexy design. By the time Pixi had arrived to Market, a deluge of Android phones lead by the Motorola Droid and the powerful iPhone 3GS had been released. Android 2.0 and Motoblur feature functionalities that are close to Palm’s Synergy, while the Pixi lacks WiFi. At […]
11/16/2009, Looks like most mobile platforms now have their own Facebook app, with webOS being the latest in a long line of them, joning both the Android and iPhone platforms where social networking phenomenon is concerned. Nothing groundbreaking here though, and it might even feel a little bit gimped since the application does not allow you to look for information or view events, rendering it somewhat impotent. You will need to […]
11/15/2009, We already know that Adobe has promised webOS users that they’ll get Flash 10.1 on their devices in the first half of 2010, and now it looks like Android users will be getting the same deal too, as a message from Adobe reads: “Adobe Flash Player 10.1 is coming to Android 2.0 and future releases in the first half of 2010.” Now hopefully Apple will succumb to the pressure and […]
11/15/2009, Palm Pre owners should be licking their lips, since Palm and Sprint have officially released webOS 1.3.1 for owners of the Pre. While this latest firmware (sadly) doesn’t restore the iTunes syncing, it does offer some updates features such as syncing Yahoo contacts and calendar with Synergy, watching widescreen videos in widescreen mode, forward and copy SMS messages and some other stuff. Check out details of the firmware upgrade here.
11/14/2009, Rumors always seem to do amazing things to stocks, and it seems that Palm’s stock has been positively affected by the latest rumors, rising by 8% amidst speculation that the company may be bought out by Nokia. You have to admit that the news does seem a little weird though, seeing that Palm and Nokia don’t have all that much in common. Nokia focuses on Symbian and Maemo, while Palm […]
11/12/2009, The Palm Pixi, when priced at $100, isn’t exactly that enticing when pitted against its larger sibling known as the Pre, but Walmart clearly does the handset justice with a $30 price point for the Palm Pixi via its LetsTalk. This instant discount ought to get those sitting on the fence to make a decision quickly.
11/12/2009, Adobe has announced that Flash 10.1 will be available for the Palm WebOS platform from the first half of 2010 onwards, which is better late than never. At least it will be earlier (at press time anyways) compared to Apple iPhone users who still cannot experience such a benefit. While this applies to only the Pre and Pixi, it remains to be seen whether there will be other WebOS devices […]
11/10/2009, Sprint will be launching the Palm Pixi in 5 days’ time, and someone managed to catch an image of the handset running webOS 1.3.1 alongside what is deemed to be a rather frisky user interface. While the video failed to show off the new features that will be making its way to 1.3.1, it is still interesting to know that 1.3.1 is very real and ready to roll.
09/28/2009, Palm has just released its webOS 1.2.0 for the Palm Pre, but unfortunately no new applications will be introduced with changes made to existing applications. You will now be able to purchase songs from Amazon MP3 over a phone network connection without having to be connected via Wi-Fi, while the App Catalog lets you purchase apps using your credit card. Fret not, as your credit card information will be stored […]
09/12/2009, Candy bar fans might want to stay awake at nights, especially since Palm has announced its latest smartphone, the Palm Pixi, which has a candy bar design, built-in keyboard. The bad news is that the device features a smaller display than the Palm Pre and lacks Wi-Fi, most likely part of a strategy to keep the cost of the device down. More pictures of the Palm Pixi have surfaced online, […]
