11/11/2009, This is probably the coolest Palm Pre car mount out there. It’s basically Palm’s inductive Touchstone charger hooked up to the car battery, and stuck to the panel, allowing you to stick your Palm Pre there, and charge it at the same time, amazing little bit of DIY. We do wonder how strong the magnet is though, assuming you go over a bump rather hard, with the Palm Pre be […]
11/11/2009, By now you’ve probably read of, heard of, or experienced the iPhone threat from ikee, which Rickrolls your iPhone (in a way) but changing the wallpaper of Jailbroken iPhones that have SSH installed and leave the root password unchanged. While that wasn’t damaging, it seems that it could become more serious as a new hacking threat has emerged, exploiting the same vulnerability, but allows a hacker to silently copy a […]
11/11/2009, In what will certainly be a painful blow to Symbian, Samsung’s senior VP, Don Joo Lee, has confirmed that the company will ditch Symbian from its smartphones in 2010, replacing it with the recently announced Bada. Samsung will continue to use Android and Windows Mobile, but analysts predict that the use of Windows Mobile in Samsung phones will drop significantly next year, and become just a minority by 2012. If […]
11/11/2009, Looking at the innards of a cell phone might not be for everybody, but for those of you who are ever curious and love to tinker, you’re welcome to check out more pictures of it. Do bear in mind that we strongly suggest you perform surgery on your mobile phone, regardless of the phone you might be using.
11/11/2009, Ever wanted a fun way to roughly show the evolution of mobile phones? Well, check out what designer Kyle Bean has come up with. It’s basically a Matryoshka doll, but instead of having an oval shaped girl, we’ve got the various cellphone designs and sizes over the years, not too shabby, eh?
11/11/2009, Thanks to the Bluetooth SIG, we know that Nokia is coming up with a CDMA version of the Nokia 6316 slide. The phone, which features CDMA 1xRTT EVDO will be heading towards China Telecom (in China, of course). Technical details of this entry-level phone aren’t available just yet, but we do know that Bluetooth 2.1 will be part of it. Aside from China, the phone should also be hitting Africa […]
11/10/2009, Sprint will be launching the Palm Pixi in 5 days’ time, and someone managed to catch an image of the handset running webOS 1.3.1 alongside what is deemed to be a rather frisky user interface. While the video failed to show off the new features that will be making its way to 1.3.1, it is still interesting to know that 1.3.1 is very real and ready to roll.
11/10/2009, This AVerTV HD DVR PCI 1x card can record shows from a set top box (cable or satellite) to your PC via two HDMI inputs. It produces H.264 content for mobile devices: the output resolution is only 320×240, which is smaller than most modern smartphone displays (why call it “HD” then?!). It will also record anything (not DRM protected) that connects via HDMI (computers, game consoles, DVD). If you wonder, the […]
11/10/2009, Nokia is starting to promote its N900 internet tablet (we call it a smartphone) with this viral video. It’s 2mn36 long and the end is pretty interesting. If you have not seen it yet, check out our complete review of the Nokia N900.
11/10/2009, Softbank, the No.3 wireless carrier in Japan did reveal today that the company is looking to unveil its first Android-powered smartphone in spring sometime next year, following similar launches by NTT DoCoMo and Verizon Wireless. Softbank did not reveal the hardware manufacturer behind this Android-powered handset (although we think HTC would be a decent option), we do know it will come with an OLED display.
11/10/2009, Garmin has let the cat out of the bag, where they aim to further expand their portfolio to carry an Android-smartphone. There is still no official confirmation on when the Android-powered device will be making a bow apart from a date that hails from 2010. Since it has the Garmin name emblazoned on the future release, we can be pretty sure the navigational functions within work just as planned in […]
11/10/2009, What makes NTT DoCoMo’s F-04B cellphone different from the rest would be its separable, two-module body which makes it the first in the world to sport such a form factor. Apart from that novelty, you will find that the F-04B is well equipped with a 12.1-megapixel camera and a microSDHC memory card slot among others. Whenever the display section of the handset is separated from the keyboard section, both halves […]
11/10/2009, Open up your wallet and see the number of notes within – while most of us can just think about preserving and growing that amount, many others would prefer to indulge in their whims and fancies when the going is good. Emmanuel James thinks otherwise though as this Sierra Leonean student from the Makeni Polytechnic Institution came up with a device that juices up cellphones without the need for electricity. […]
11/10/2009, T-Mobile will be offering the simple, yet pretty, looking 3711 clamshell from Nokia. It’s no iPhone killer in terms of features, sporting a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, FM radio, microSD card expansion and a QVGA display. The inclusion of GPS in this phone does help boost its stock a bit. If you opt for an Even More contract, you’ll be able to pick it up for $70, however if you’re gunning […]
