Internet Umbrella from Japan

A couple of students from Tokyo, Japan have developed the Internet Umbrella, a device that not only keeps you dry under torrential rain, it also keeps you connected to the rest of the world via Internet. A large display is located inside the umbrella’s canopy, displaying whatever the projector located within the shaft throws out. The images are retrieved from a connected notebook that utilizes WiFi connectivity to hook up to the Internet. Other features of this high tech umbrella include a camera, a motion sensor, a digital compass, and a GPS receiver. Sounds pretty neat – but will it actually catch on? The GPS function will definitely come in handy since you will be able to find out the nearest place to hang out for a hot cup of joe whenever it rains cats and dogs. Chances are this will be a fast seller in wet England.
