Has the FCC spilled the beans on an upcoming variant of the Nexus S? Folks have noticed that a Samsung phone with the model number GT-i9023 has paid a visit to the FCC, supporting AWS 3G, making it suitable for T-Mobile. While there isn’t any confirmation that it’s the Nexus S, the outline of the device does look familiar and the model number is pretty similar to the GT-i9020 of the Nexus S.

On a related note, a German site has posted a video of a Nexus S that claims to be running Android 2.4 and the “About” screen of the device shows the model i9023, so maybe we’re on to something here. Some European retailers have already begun to list the i9023 as a “Black Silver” Nexus S and while it might be possible that it’s just another color scheme for the phone, it wouldn’t make much sense to send it through the FCC for just a paint job change. Could an upgraded version of the Nexus S be headed to T-Mobile, perhaps with HSPA+ support?
