Nokia’s partnership with Microsoft is definitely a big deal and there will be major changes thanks to it. Of course, change isn’t necessarily welcome by everybody and many Nokia employees have made their disapproval of the deal known. Nokia’s staff voiced their dissatisfaction by walking out of Nokia facilities and it’s been said that as many as a thousand workers marched out. Reports say that many of the protestors work on the Symbian platform, so their jobs will likely be in jeopardy as Nokia begins to implement Windows Phone 7 on its devices. Nokia will still continue to work on Symbian at the moment, but the axe will probably fall sooner or later. No job cuts have been mentioned just yet, but whispers are going around that the cuts in headcount will be substantial.
