We have heard whispers of the iPad finally getting a dedicated Facebook app (can you actually believe that something so popular still lacks what some deem to be a basic necessity when it comes to apps on the iPad?), but as the saying goes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, HP’s TouchPad has beat out the iPad when it comes to getting a dedicated Facebook app. Leaked images showing off the first official Facebook app that runs on the webOS-powered HP TouchPad has been making their rounds online, and first impressions seem to receive more bouquets than brickbats.

It is as what most people would dream of – most of the features that you expect to appear are already in the app, ranging from the Newsfeed to Messages, Events, Places, Friends, and Photos, carefully laid out so that your eyes can view them easily. No idea on whether it functions as well as it looks, but at least it is ready and waiting to keep your social networking craving fulfilled even if you decide to place a purchase order for the HP TouchPad.

Further searching around by TechCrunch confirmed that HP built this app from ground up instead of Facebook. Kudos, guys!
