Last week, we wrote to you that Microsoft has launched the Windows 8 Release Preview. So, if you’ve been waiting for it, and if you haven’t downloaded it yet, you can get it via Microsoft’s Windows 8 page. Moving on, Microsoft already said that it will be adding desktop app listings to its Windows Store in the Windows 8 Release Preview. “Desktop app listings will show up in the Store for the first time tomorrow, June 1st. Customers will be able to search for them or find them within categories, just as they do listings for Metro style apps,” Microsoft’s Antoine Leblond previously said.

Now it appears that the very first desktop app has made its appearance on the Microsoft Store. According to McAkins Online, Microsoft Office 2010 is the first desktop app to land in the store. “The first Desktop App has appeared in the Store, and it is Microsoft Office 2010! Yes, you can find it under Productivity Category. Go check it out and install it if you must,” the blog wrote. So, if you’re now on Windows 8, the release preview version that is, you might want to get this useful desktop app. You can get the deskop app under the “Productivity” category or you can simply search for the keyword “Office”.
