Xiaomi is going to announce the global version of its much-awaited Operating System — MIUI 7, on August 19th, New Delhi, India. The Chinese OEM will initially be unleashing the MIUI 7 in an event in Beijing on August 13th. The MIUI 7 will come packed with Google Play Services. There is no information about how MIUI 7 will look like, but we expect it to be most likely based upon the Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The company also unveiled its first ever ‘Made in India’ smartphone today, named as Redmi 2 Prime, which is basically Redmi 2’s limited edition that was limited to China. The Redmi 2 Prime is the first device by Xiaomi, which has been manufactured in India. The MIUI 7 release on August 19th might also see the company announcing another device, dubbed as the Redmi Note 2.
The Redmi 2 Prime is an enhanced version of the Redmi 2, and the device was listed before the launch on Amazon’s India website. The device comes with a 4.7-inch 720p HD display, and is powered by a 64-bit 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC paired with 2GB of RAM. There is 16GB internal storage on-board, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front camera. It is backed by a 2,200mAh battery.
