Microsoft has a new browser called Edge. This is a browser that is available on Windows 10, Windows 10 Mobile, and now according to Microsoft, it looks like the Edge browser will also be coming to the Xbox One. This was confirmed by Microsoft on Twitter in response to a user asking about the browser’s availability on the console.
However Microsoft did not answer the question in full. The user also asked if it will have the same features as the desktop version, but Microsoft only answered the first part. However if we had to speculate, chances are the Edge browser will most likely be fine tuned for the console, meaning that some features for the PC might not be present as it might not make sense.
At the same time there could be features for the console version of Edge that might not be for the PC, due to the difference in how the browser is accessed. This is just speculation on our part so the end result might be different. Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra however did talk about how Windows 10 would see deeper integration with the Xbox One, so for all we know the Edge browser on the console could be more similar than we think.
No word on when the browser will be released, but we know that Microsoft has a pretty big update planned for November where one of the features they’re bringing to the table is backwards compatibility.
