nintendo-mobile-528Ever since Nintendo announced their plans to launch mobile games, many have been giddy with anticipation to see what Nintendo could bring to the table. The company expects to release their first title before the end of the year and it looks like an announcement could be made soon, according to DeNA West CEO Shintaro Asako.

For those unfamiliar, DeNA will be the company Nintendo will be collaborating with to create their mobile games. According to Asako, “Soon, we should be able to announce the game.” No dates were mentioned but it has been pointed out that Nintendo has an October investor meeting planned, so perhaps we could learn more about the company’s plans then.

Given Nintendo’s stance on creating games for mobile, safe to say that the announcement from earlier this year got everyone pretty excited. We should note that if you are expecting to see current titles ported onto mobile, you might be disappointed. The company has stated previously that their mobile games will be based on existing franchises, but will be completely different games.

The company had also stated that they are exploring both the free-to-play and paid models, so there might be some titles that might be a paid premium game, while others might be free-to-play with in-app purchases, either way we are excited to see what Nintendo’s foray into mobile will bring.
