lg payLast year LG confirmed that they were working on a mobile payments service, and according to a follow-up rumor, it was suggested that the service might rely on an external device, like a card, in order for it to work. Turns out the rumors might be right as a photo has recently surfaced showing off the alleged device.

Dubbed the White Card (we’re not sure why, or it might be a translation issue), this device looks like a credit card. In fact it kind of reminds us of Plastc which is basically a single card that can hold the information of multiple cards at once. The idea is that you can switch between cards easily as opposed to having to look for different cards for different purposes.

As you can see in the image above, there is a small display which says “Locked”, which presumably is the security feature of the card to prevent it from being used without your authorization. It’s a good idea but we’re not sure how well-received it will be, or more importantly, how it holds up to the competition.

One of the benefits of Apple Pay, Android Pay, and Samsung Pay is that it uses your phone, a device that many of us carry on ourselves. This would mean having to carry an additional device. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but the rumors claim that LG might debut the White Card at MWC 2016 next month, so check back with us then for the details.
