apple watch patentThe Apple Watch and iPhone at the moment feel like they are two separate devices, and to a certain extent they are. Sure, you can receive messages and emails on your watch, but they still don’t necessarily feel like a combo. However according to a recently discovered patent, it seems that Apple is thinking about how the Apple Watch could be tied-in more with the iPhone.

According to the patent, it suggests how the Apple Watch could be used to adjust the volume on your iPhone. For example your phone ringing at maximum volume in a quiet location isn’t necessary, but at the same time it won’t work if you’re in a loud and crowded environment, and changing volume levels all the time can be rather annoying.

Instead the patent suggests that the Apple Watch could be used to listen for ambient sounds in intervals, so that when it detects that you are in a noisy environment, it will adjust the phone’s volume to be louder, and the same is true for when you are in a quieter environment. It will also be able to tell if your phone is in your pocket, bag, or on the table, thus adjusting its volume levels accordingly.

It’s an intriguing idea and one that would tie both the smartwatch and iPhone together a lot more. However whether or not Apple will make this feature a reality is anyone’s guess, but what do you guys think? Would this be a feature you’d like to see in the future?
