destiny-ps4Earlier rumors had pegged Destiny’s sequel for a release in 2016. However a report from last month has suggested that the game was delayed, meaning that it’s anyone’s guess as to when it will be released. The good news is that we now have official word that the sequel to Destiny will be officially released in 2017.

This is according to a recent announcement from Activision in an investor’s note in which the sequel’s release has been confirmed. The note also made mention of an upcoming expansion that Bungie expects to release later this year as well. “Activision Publishing, along with its partners at Bungie, expects to bring a large new expansion to Destiny in 2016 and to release a full game sequel in 2017.”

Earlier this month, it was rumored that Bungie had a new DLC planned for the game later this year, and this announcement seems to confirm it. It was speculated that the expansion/DLC will be around the size/level as the Taken King, which can only be a good thing, so gamers will want to keep an eye out for it.

No word on what kind of content we can expect from the DLC, or what kind of changes Bungie will make with Destiny’s sequel, but either way we are pretty excited so remember to check back with us in the coming months where hopefully more details will be revealed.
