If you are covered by Apple’s warranty and you need to repair your iPhone, most of the time it is a relatively painless and straightforward process. Don’t have warranty? That’s too bad because you can expect the repair bill to be rather hefty. The good news for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus owners is that thanks to the folks at iFixit, the teardown of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus have revealed that it is relatively easy to repair.

Both phones have scored a 7 out of 10 in terms of repairability, which is pretty much the same as the previous model, the iPhone 6s, and also 2014’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. According to iFixit, one of the advantages is that its battery is easy to remove, and that the solid state home button also means one less point of component failure because if you are an iPhone owner, a broken home button is something that you’re familiar with.

Some of the drawbacks to the iPhone 7’s repairability is that because of Apple’s waterproofing techniques that have been employed in the build of the phone, it could be more complicated to repair certain components than before, such as the display. iFixit also notes that Apple has employed the use of tri-point screws, meaning that repairing the iPhone could require as many as 4 screwdrivers which could complicate and slow down the process.

In any case we guess at the end of the day as long as you’re covered by the warranty you won’t have to worry about it, but its 7/10 score for repairability also means that while complicated, it sounds like it shouldn’t be too hard for most third-party repair shops to get the job done.
