One of the selling points of the new MacBook Pros is the Touch Bar. Basically this adds an OLED touchscreen display to the laptop’s keyboard and replaces the function keys. It is also adaptive meaning that depending on the app being used, it will be able to pull up different items and tools that users can use for it instead of clicking on the screen the whole time.

However we’re sure some of you guys out there probably think that it is gimmicky, and you’re right that at first glance it does seem more novel than functional, but if you’re are seriously considering the new MacBook Pros, you’re in luck because thanks to developers Andreas Verhoeven and Robbert Klarenbeek, they have developed a Touch Bar Demo app that simulates the Touch Bar on an iPad.

This means that when you connect your iPad to your Mac, the app will run and simulate the Touch Bar, so depending on the app you’re using, the Touch Bar on the iPad will change. It is also possible to install it on your Mac, but obviously this means that you can no longer touch it with your fingers, so the experience isn’t 100% the same.

In any case for those who want to download the Mac version, just update your computer to the latest macOS and download the app from the app’s GitHub page. However if you want to use it with your iPad, it does get a bit more complicated. The full instructions can be found on Reddit.
