There are some users who feel the need to upgrade to a major operating system whenever a new version is released, and then there are those who are content to keep using the current version until there is really no choice. This is because sometimes some users don’t need all the fancy new features because their needs are simple.Now if you know anyone who is still using an older build of Chrome, you might want to tell them to update because in a recent announcement by Google, they have announced that starting from the 8th of February, 2017, Gmail will no longer be supported on computers running Chrome 53 or older (the latest build is Chrome 56 that was rolled out not too long ago).
According to Google, “Gmail users that are still on Windows XP and Windows Vista are the most likely to be affected, because v49 was the last released version which supported those operating systems. As previously announced in April 2015 and November 2015, these systems are no longer maintained by Microsoft, and we strongly encourage you to migrate to more secure and supported systems.”
It should be pointed out that Gmail will still continue to function, but with support no longer offered, users could be more susceptible to security risks and won’t have access to the latest bugfixes. Google also says that by the end of the year, users still using Chrome 53 or older will be redirected to a basic HTML version of Gmail.
