There are several news apps available where users can consume news from various sources on their phones. However it seems that Samsung plans to throw their hat into the ring because in a report from SamMobile, it seems that Samsung could be working on their own news app that will have support for podcasts and even Bixby Voice.

According to the report, this news app is said to be more than just a news app where users can also search and subscribe to various podcasts and channels. There is support for Bixby Voice which means that users can also use their voice to ask the app to play a particular podcast and control it.

Given that Samsung’s competition such as Apple and Google already have their own news apps, we guess we shouldn’t be surprised that they are planning something similar as well. For example we’ve seen Samsung hop onto the bandwagon with their own music streaming services as well as their own mobile payment services in Samsung Pay, so this would not be completely unprecedented.

Also given that Samsung is one of the biggest Android OEMs around, they do have enough users where they’ll be able to get a huge user base should such an app be launched, but until we see it officially, take it with a grain of salt.
