The Apple TV is a great hub for watching your shows and movies, but the problem is that it isn’t quite up to date with the latest resolutions, and given that 4K is expected to become the standard for the foreseeable future, it does leave users a bit wanting (although whether or not you can tell the difference is a different story).

However the good news is that Apple could have a 4K Apple TV in the works, thanks to a post by developer Guilherme Rambo in which after digging through the tvOS 11 beta, there is code referencing a 4K Apple TV. The code in question makes mention of an Apple TV with the model number J105A, which in a report from Bloomberg earlier this year is supposed to be Apple’s 4K Apple TV device.

Apple has yet to make any official announcement regarding the 4K Apple TV, but just last month it seems that there have been some iTunes listings for shows in 4K, which seems to suggest that Apple could be getting ready for it. There is no official word on when the new Apple TV will be announced, but Apple is expected to launch their new iPhones next month, so perhaps we might learn more about it then.

Alternatively Apple might host an event towards the end of the year for other Apple product launches, so it could be then as well, but either way check back with us in the near future for more updates.
