Until Apple actually unveils the official numbers, it’s really anyone’s guess as to how well the iPhone X is doing. Some claim that it is doing well, while others predict that it could die an early death. However according to the numbers by market research firm Canalys, it has been estimated that Apple has managed to ship 29 million iPhone X units in Q4 2017.

So what does this mean? To give some perspective, Apple shipped 78.3 million iPhones over the holiday quarter in 2016, with another 46.7 million last quarter. However it should be noted that those are combined shipments of all iPhones, whereas this 29 million units is for the iPhone X only.

According Canalys analyst Ben Stanton, “One major benefit to Apple is that customers are increasingly realizing the residual value of their old smartphones, opting for trade-in programs to offset the high price of the iPhone X. But that big price tag, and Apple’s split launch strategy, still had an impact, and shipments were not the fastest ever for an iPhone.”

Canalys also claims that other iPhone models, like the iPhone 8 and older devices like the iPhone 6s, 7, and SE are reportedly shipping well too, but like we said until Apple makes it official, it’s really anyone’s guess as to how many iPhones Apple has officially shipped to date.
