Instagram’s Stories feature has come a long way since it was first introduced, and while the idea might have been cloned off Snapchat’s own Stories feature, it has definitely evolved into its own thing. Instagram has since introduced a bunch of new tools and features to help enhance Stories, with the latest being a feature called “Type”.

Initially discovered by the folks at TNW, this new featuring is being tested out at the moment and is aimed more towards those who want to create text-based Stories. As you know Stories consist of photos and videos that can have text inserted into them, but with Type, it is geared towards users who want to put the emphasis on their messages.

From what we can see, users can choose from various fonts and Instagram will automatically select the background for it that will best emphasize the text on it, which can sometimes be difficult in the past as sometimes the text can get lost in the image due to the differences in color.

The feature is currently in testing and there is no word on when it will be released, or if it will be released since Instagram does test features from time to time without necessarily releasing it to the public, but we’ll keep an eye out for more details in the future should it become available.
