Segway’s Next Invention Are A Pair Of Roller Shoes

Segway is a company that many might be familiar with as the company that created the personal transportation device, which has since been used in many a TV show and movie, such as Paul Blart: Mall Cop. However it seems that Segway has decided to make something a little more compact which comes in the form of the Drift W1.

Details are a bit scarce at the moment, but basically these look like mechanized versions of roller skates/roller blades, or if you want to look at it from another angle, they look like the “hoverboards” that have been halved. Each unit is said to weigh around 7.7lbs and will provide the wearer with a top speed of 7.5 miles per hour.

However don’t expect to be able to roll your way across country as the Draft W1s are said to have an estimated battery life of 45 minutes per charge, which will vary depending on your “riding style and terrain”, according to the company. As for availability, Segway plans on launching the Draft W1s in August where they’ll be priced at $399 which will include a free helmet. If this sounds like something you’re interested in, head on over to Segway’s website for the details.
