Apple Giving Some Users Free 200GB iCloud Storage Ahead Of New iPhone

Apple’s new iPhones are expected to be announced in a couple of weeks’ time and it appears that the company might have confirmed it. In a post on Reddit (via The Verge), it seems that Apple is giving some users free 200GB iCloud storage and are notifying them via email, claiming that they should get for their new iPhone.

As to why this deal isn’t available for everyone, it seems that Apple is targeting users who have recently signed up with any of the four major US carriers. It is a clear marketing ploy since this free 200GB isn’t forever. Instead it will only be good for two months, after which users will be charged $2.99 a month to maintain the 200GB iCloud storage.

If you have yet to sign up for an iCloud storage, $2.99 a month for 200GB isn’t too bad of a deal, but if you are already subscribed to other services like Dropbox, OneDrive, or Google One, then we guess there isn’t much point. Also it should be noted that this deal seems to have been made with the US carriers, meaning that if you’re staying out of the US, there’s a good chance you might not even see this deal

Apple doesn’t confirm when the new iPhones will be launched, but the speculation has put it in the second week of September, possibly on the 11th or 12th.
