LG is now rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update to the LG V20 and Q6. You might be wondering why Oreo now that Android 9 Pie is out but then again, LG’s track record with swift updates isn’t something to boast about. It has been trying to do a better job of rolling out updates, though, and that has resulted in Oreo being rolled out for these devices.

LG announced a couple of months ago that it’s setting up a Global Software Update Center in order to quickly release updates for its devices. It has confirmed today that the V20 and Q6 are now receiving version 8.0 Oreo.

The LG V20 and LG Q6 both are receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update. In addition to this iteration of Android, the LG Q6 is also getting support for DTS:X 7.1 channel 3D surround sound. Another new feature will let users turn on the Q6’s flashlight so that it can turn on and off in sync with the music that’s playing.

Incremental updates have also been rolled out for the LG G6 and G7. The former gets LG’s AI-enhanced Bright Camera feature which helps improve the brightness in low-light situations. The AI solution also tries to offer the best camera settings possible for any given scene. The LG G7 is getting AR Stickers with its latest update.

LG is rolling out these updates in South Korea first before they’re eventually released in other markets.
