It’s safe to say that the first Green Lantern movie was not the best superhero movie we’ve seen. Even its star, Ryan Reynolds (who has since had huge success playing as Deadpool), admitted as much. However it seems that the Green Lantern movie could be getting a reboot, and this time it could come with one of Hollywood’s biggest names attached to it.

In a report from Crazy Days and Nights (via Comic Book), apparently Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise is in talks to play as Green Lantern in the movie’s reboot. The movie in question is said to be Green Lantern Corps and based on the original script, apparently Cruise’s character would have been killed off, which is reportedly one of the reasons he has yet to sign on because it would seem that Cruise wants that to be changed before he gets on board with the project.

Cruise has done plenty of action movies over the course of his career, so for him to jump into a superhero role would not necessarily be a stretch of the imagination. Also given that Green Lantern is part of DC, Cruise’s Mission Impossible co-star Henry Cavill (who plays as Superman in the DCEU) has expressed his interest in working with cruise again.

According to Cavill, “I would love to work with Tom again. So, any opportunity I get would be enormous fun.” No word on when Green Lantern Corps is expected to be released, but hopefully we’ll get some kind of confirmation soon.
