Back in the day YouTube was more or less the default platform that people would turn to for video content. Nowadays there are more options, and with trends shifting, YouTube is definitely in danger of possibly losing their position at the top. So much so that it seems that in a bid to keep visitors interested, they’re paying creators a ton of money to help promote some of YouTube’s features.

In a report from Bloomberg, it seems that YouTube is paying a lot of money to its more famous content creators. This money is used to get creators to promote some of YouTube’s premium features, like paid memberships, enhanced chat features, and more, so if you come across some of the platform’s more popular channels and see them hawking YouTube’s features, don’t be surprised.

It seems that this has stemmed from complaints from creators who feel that advertising isn’t enough to make a living on YouTube, and that because YouTube has started to become more strict with what content can and cannot be monetized, many creators have felt that this has hurt their revenue.

The amount YouTube is paying is said to range from tens of thousands of dollars, and apparently even goes up to hundreds of thousands. This is actually not the first time we’re hearing such reports as previously it was reported that YouTube is feeling the heat from Instagram’s IGTV and is trying to pay creators to get exclusive firsts.
