ZTE’s legal troubles in the United States have been well documented and now that the company has finally cleared them, it’s making a statement at IFA 2018 in Berlin. The company has launched the Axon 9 Pro at the event, its new flagship smartphone complete with a notched display.

The Axon 9 Pro has a 6.21 inch AMOLED 18.7:9 aspect ratio display with a notch. There’s a Snapdragon 845 processor under the hood with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The handset also features a 4,000mAh battery and ships with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

While many would have been expecting a successor to the company’s foldable Axon M smartphone from last year, this new device is more of a successor to the Axon 7 that was released in 2016. ZTE is yet to reveal if the Axon M was just a one-time thing or if it’s going to release a successor for that device as well.

ZTE confirmed at IFA 2018 today that the Axon 9 Pro will go on sale in Europe starting next month. It will be priced at €649. The company may also release the handset in other markets across the globe in the months to come. What it’s not going to do is release this device in the United States.
